So, last night was again the full moon. And there was a partial eclipse of said full moon. I've been very busy in the garden recently, harvesting lots of cucumbers and tomatoes making pickles, gazpacho, and ratatouille. And the photography has taken back seat.

But as I said, last night was the full moon and there was an eclipse, so I went to the East Fork Overlook on the parkway - one of my favorites for sunrises and moonrises, but a thunderstorm moved in and by the time there was any trace of the moon, it was too high in the sky and it was blurred by heavy clouds.

Last night I went back to the Mills River Valley Overlook to see what the sunset was like. It is one of the few overlooks with a view both east and west. And it's only a 30 minute drive from my house. So this is not a "wall-hanger", but it's always pretty on the parkway.

This morning I went on an outing to shoot Turk's cap lillies at Mills River Valley Overlook organized by Courtland with the Carolina Nature Photographers group. Thank you, Court.

Last night was the full moon, and we went back to Black Balsam K**b in hopes of getting both the sunset and moon rise from the 360 view at the top. Starting out we kept hearing thunder and there was some concern about being exposed to lightning, but the storm was actually 40 miles away over Hendersonville. Here is the sunset, but there were too many clouds to be hopeful for the moon. As we drove home on the parkway, I was hoping one of the overlooks facing east might give us a glimpse, and it did! At the Pounding Mill Overlook, there was a stunning orange moon, which unfortunately disappeared before I could set the camera up. Very fickle of her!
