Summer, motherhood, and a little bit of magic at Looking Glass Falls šŸ¤

Weddings may be a big part of what I photograph, but I’m here for all kinds of love. The growing families, the quiet seasons, the anticipation of meeting someone you already love so deeply.

Maternity, motherhood, family… these stories deserve a place in your photo albums, too.

And honestly, there’s something so special about documenting them somewhere as wild and beautiful as this.

M&J having a vogue moment and then the night began✨

Cocktail hour hellos, their first dance, nonstop laughs and happy tears through the speeches, and a dance floor that got a little wild in the best way.

Somewhere in between, a quiet moment to breathe it all in. Then one last dance, just the two of them, before heading out under a sea of fairy wands.

This was indeed a good day šŸ˜

Makenna, in all her you-ness šŸ¤

Effortlessly herself, completely present, and absolutely stunning. The kind of beauty that happens when you’re not trying to be anyone but you.

And that lace Maggie Sottero dress? It couldn’t have felt more her. Found at Meadowbrooke Bridal right here in Weaverville, NC, and made for a day like this.

A few bridal frames I don’t think I’ll ever get over.

Some wedding days just feel like they were meant to happen. šŸ¤

From the very beginning, my connection with Makenna & Jeremy felt so genuine and effortless. So when they told me their wedding at Homewood would be on August 22nd, my birthday, it somehow just felt right. If I was going to spend my birthday photographing a wedding, I’m so glad it was theirs.

And their day was such a reminder that you really can have both.

You can have the whimsy and still keep things a little loose and editorial. You can let the day unfold naturally and still have fun posing when the moment calls for it. One doesn’t have to take away from the other.

Because your wedding photos don’t have to fit into one little box.

They can be romantic and playful. Intentional and completely unplanned. A little polished, a little messy, and very much yours.

A few sneak peeks from Makenna & Jeremy’s beautiful day at Homewood — and a pretty special way to spend my birthday šŸ¤

36 šŸ¤

I don’t think I have anything profound to say about getting another year older, except that life feels very full these days.

Full of little feet running through the house, homeschool mornings, cameras by the door, editing after bedtime, coffee that I’ve reheated more times than I can count, and a home that is almost never quiet.

Yesterday we celebrated a little early, all six of us together. Julio made me a homemade chocolate cake 🄰 and honestly, there isn’t much more I could ask for.

Somewhere in between all of the busy, I’m learning to notice my own life too.

The ordinary days. The beautiful ones. The messy ones. The ones I know I’ll miss someday.

36 feels pretty good. šŸ¤

And in very fitting fashion, I’m spending my actual birthday photographing a wedding today. Camera in hand, probably crying during someone else’s vows. šŸ˜‚

Here’s to 36 šŸ„‚

Your engagement session doesn’t need to be a performance.

You don’t need to show up knowing how to pose, where to put your hands, or how to somehow look effortlessly romantic for two hours. That part is my job šŸ¤

What I want from you is much simpler: come as yourselves, and ready to be present.

Tell me where you spend your weekends. What you do for fun. Where you had your first date. Whether you’d rather run barefoot through a field, wander around downtown, visit your favorite record store, grab a drink, hike somewhere beautiful, or do something completely different.

I’ll give you direction when you need it, but I also want to leave room for the unexpected—the laughing-too-hard photos, the quiet glances, the movement, the weird little things you do together that probably don’t mean much to anyone else.

Because your engagement photos should tell me something about the two of you.

Not just what you looked like before your wedding.

What your life together felt like in this chapter.

2027 & 2028 couples — tell me: if you could plan an engagement session that felt completely like you, what would we be doing?

A little evening at Durrant Farms with the sweetest family 🧚

Whitney and Tom are two of those people who are just so warm and genuinely good. It was such a joy getting to spend this time with them and document this season of their family as they get ready to become a family of four.

We had a few hours of the most beautiful, quiet evening on the farm—reading together under the willow tree, wandering around, and finding all the little whimsical details that make their farm so special.

And then, just a few hours after our session, a storm came through. Thankfully, everyone was safe, but it definitely made me appreciate these photos even more. We had no idea what was coming!

If you haven’t been to Durrant Farms yet, their alpaca farm is truly one of the sweetest places. They host brunches, weddings, and all sorts of special gatherings—and honestly, it’s easy to see why people love being there.

Whitney & Tom, I’m so happy I got to document this little chapter for you. Your family is growing, and what a blessing that is šŸ¤

I photographed this wedding while I was pregnant with Sofia 🄹

Looking through these images again brought me right back to that summer.

I was carrying my third baby, photographing weddings, growing our family, and somehow moving through this season without realizing how quickly it would all become a memory.

And that’s one of the things I love about photographs.

Sometimes you look at an image years later and remember so much more than what was happening in the frame.

You remember who you were.

What you were carrying.

What you were waiting for.

What life felt like.

A&M's beautiful wedding day at Brown Mountain Beach Resort will always hold a little piece of that season for me šŸ’›

There are a few movies I come back to every year.

Tree of Life.
About Time.
Pride & Prejudice.
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

And then there are the ones I’ve watched once and somehow still carry with me—Atonement, Interstellar, La La Land.

Maybe it’s the way they make ordinary moments feel significant. The emotions. The landscapes. The story.

I think that’s probably why I’m drawn to photographing people the way I do.

I love the parts that feel a little like a movie—but more than that, I love the parts that could never have been scripted.

The in-between moments. The imperfect ones. The ones you almost miss.

These are a few of the films that have shaped the way I see.

What movie could you watch over and over again?
