Waking up to a slow rainy day here made me remember this beautiful and intimate session. Seth planned the most romantic escape to Asheville, to make this occasion one they will forever remember. The joy of connecting with couples that visit from all over the world, to cherish their new chapters in a place that holds so much beauty and meaning.

As photographers, we spend our careers refining a visual language, hoping that those who speak it will find us. When that connection happens, it allows us to document a day in an organic way where everything is honored so naturally.

I love being involved in the vision leading up to a wedding. I want to understand the “why” behind every element and intention. Alicia shared her inspiration board with me, and to my surprise, much of it wasn’t wedding-related at all. Instead, she had carefully chosen images from my personal work ( ) And with it shared something along the lines of “We want you to be your creative self.” While my personal work has come up in conversation with numerous clients, knowing that we can connect creatively beyond the wedding concepts is so energizing to me.

I will never forget that feeling. I was flooded with gratitude and a renewed sense of purpose, knowing that my personal art could inform how I serve my couples and I carry that with me in every wedding.

Alicia and Bryan’s garden Victorian celebration was a dream to witness. They prioritized intimate moments and the beautifully curated details Alicia spent months collecting and crafting. To see it all come together, honoring their commitment with the same care they used to conjure this day, was incredible.

Carsen & Danny’s wedding day at Laurel Falls felt like something out of a dream tucked into the woods, wrapped in mountain light, and filled with so much joy.

Their energy was effortless and bright. You could feel the love from every corner from everyone that came together to celebrate their love and a dance floor that never slowed down, full of laughter and celebration.

We wandered through all the hidden nooks and sweeping views this place has to offer.

I get asked often about the difference between 35mm and medium format film, and why I like to incorporate both when documenting a wedding day.

There are technical differences of course, the size of the negative, the depth, the way light renders on film but beyond that, medium format has a certain presence to it and each photograph carries small imperfections that make it feel deeply human.

Digital photography has evolved to near perfection (which has its place on a wedding day), I still find myself drawn back to film, for the same reason we return to old family albums. There’s something in the texture, the irregularities, the evidence of the hand behind the craft. And somehow, those small imperfections are exactly what make the moment feel timeless.

Over the years, I’ve had the chance to document weddings across some of the most beautiful spaces. Each space holds its own light and rhythm… and film allows me to respond to it with that same adaptability.
