Once upon a time, there were two very special princesses. One had a brain tumor and the other had a heart defect. But this is not who they were. They were courageous, living life out loud with exuberance every step of their journeys. They were so loved and so celebrated and are missed so much. They touched countless lives around them, and their memories are a blessing. My yearly photo session event that I do in memory of them has always been with a goal of seeing and celebrating each of the children with similar struggles. It was named the Sabina, Hartley Burke and Ava Jane Gibson Memorial princess sessions to keep their names spoken year after year. But the memorial part of it was meant to be a nod to how the photo sessions are in memory of the two of them. Unfortunately, it has not always felt that way to everyone on the outside. The word "memorial" can be incredibly difficult, especially to families with very fragile children. I took a poll over the past couple of weeks and you all answered resoundingly that Sabina and Ava Jane's names should stay (they were always going to regardless) but the word memorial should go. So, with a week before nominations open for the year, I present to you CROWNS OF COURAGE. 👑❤️
