This is the part of running a business and needing to have an online presence that is frustrating. I want to tell you all about this beautiful, sweet, intimate elopement and how we ran around the Georgia State Capitol building getting the best angles and sharing lots of laughs. I want to tell you how gorgeous Millie looked in her dress and how Bobby couldn’t keep his eyes off her. I want to tell you all about this day partly because I genuinely do and partly because, my online presence is “required” as a small business.
But here’s where I am at right now:
I’m thinking of how dropping my kids off at school today and having hard conversations at 7am shouldn’t feel this scary. I am thinking about how are at the anniversary of Sandy Hook and nothing has changed. I’m thinking about how gun violence is just an accepted “price to pay” for second amendment rights. I’m thinking about how this same aforementioned rhetoric screams that it’s about mental health and then does everything in their power to strip healthcare access away from many who can no longer afford it. I’m thinking about how therapy and mental health is seen as a “snowflake” thing to many with that mindset and that kids in schools shouldn’t have access to counselors who will support them through their emotions. I’m thinking that I’m tired of it.
I’m tired of nothing changing. I’m tired of constantly living in fear of normal things like school, movie theaters, grocery shopping, airports, concerts, churches, etc.
So while I’m happy to tell you all about M + B’s beautiful elopement, I can’t let these other thoughts go without being said in the midst of yet another tragedy.
