I’ve photographed enough weddings that I pretty much know what’s coming next. And somehow, I still never know what’s coming next.

There’s a rhythm to a wedding day that becomes familiar after you’ve photographed enough of them.

Getting ready.
The dress goes on.
Bouquets get passed around.
Family photos happen.
Tears may fall during a toast.
The dance floor gets progressively more chaotic 😂

In a lot of ways, I know what’s coming.

But I think one of my favorite things about photographing weddings is that, for all the ways they can look similar on paper, I’ve never photographed the same wedding twice.

Because the people are different.

The relationships are different. The history in the room is different. The things that matter are different.

And the longer I do this, the more I realize that being a wedding photographer isn’t just about knowing what happens next.

It’s about paying enough attention to the people I’m photographing to notice what matters when it does.

And somehow, after all these weddings, I still get to walk into every one knowing there will be something I’ve never photographed before.

That’s the part I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of.

I think one of the most beautiful things about marriage is that choosing each other doesn’t end at “I do.”

Shortly after their wedding, their line of work put a bit of distance between them. I can only imagine the kind of strength it takes to begin this season of life knowing that some seasons will be spent miles apart.

But maybe that’s part of what makes a strong relationship so meaningful.

It isn’t only built in the big moments like wedding days, anniversaries, vacations, or grand gestures. It’s built in all the small ways two people continue to turn toward one another, choosing each other.

Making the call. Asking about their day. Paying attention. Following through. Finding ways to stay connected. Choosing to remain an active participant in the relationship instead of simply assuming love will take care of itself.

Because loving someone is a feeling, but building a life with someone requires intention from both people.

And I think there’s something incredibly beautiful about two people continuing to say, in a hundred different little ways, I still choose you.

Her smile, her energy, and her excitement for absolutely everything were contagious from the very first time we met."

Photographing these two at Fox Hall Resort remains one of my favorite Georgia weddings to this day.

Here’s just one part of Mckenzie & Daniel’s three-part Charleston engagement session adventure. ✨

This beach stop might’ve been windy, humid, and just a little sandy… but it was perfect just the way it was.

When I asked if they’d be up for ending the session in the water, there wasn’t even a second of hesitation. They were all in, and I think these moments perfectly capture the kind of joy that comes from simply embracing the moment together. 🤍

Some engagement sessions carry a little extra meaning, and this one definitely did. It was such a gift to spend this time with these two, and I’m so grateful they trusted me to tell this part of their story.

And the best part?

One thing I've learned after photographing so many couples is that the best sessions don't always start with perfect conditions.

Anna Claire and Caden's engagement session was actually our second attempt after weeks of nonstop rain forced us to reschedule. Then, on my drive to Athens, I found myself driving straight into another storm! 😅
But the moment I arrived, the rain held off just long enough for us to explore the gardens and capture so many beautiful moments outdoors before moving into the conservatory as the showers rolled in.
One of my favorite parts of this session wasn't the weather. It was the trust.
They trusted me when I suggested changing plans. They trusted me when I said, "Let's take advantage of this while we can." And because I'd photographed a wedding here before, I already had a game plan for both the outdoor spaces and the conservatory.
That trust is what allowed them to relax, enjoy each other, and simply be present.

To every couple worried that rain, clouds, or unexpected changes will ruin your photos... I promise they won't. Some of my favorite galleries have come from days that didn't go according to plan!

Anna Claire and Caden, thank you for embracing every change with so much joy. I already know your wedding day is going to be just as beautiful. 🤍

If there's one thing I hope every couple takes away from their engagement session, it's this:
You don't have to know how to pose.
You don't have to be "good" in front of a camera.
You don't have to worry about doing everything perfectly.
My goal is for you to leave saying exactly what so many of my couples do:
"That was actually... really fun."
Because when you're relaxed, connected, and simply enjoying each other, that's when the magic happens.

What’s my least favorite thing about bridal portrait sessions before the wedding?

I have to keep these photos to myself for weeks until the wedding day 😭
And honestly? It’s torture, especially when Chelsea’s gallery looked like this! 🥹

If you’re on the fence about scheduling a bridal session, here’s why I almost always recommend one:
✨ You get a chance to wear your dress before the wedding day and actually move around in it. I also work with my brides to schedule their session on their final hair and makeup trial day if possible, so you can see your full bridal look come together before the big day!
✨ Those brand-new shoes get a little “practice run” before you’re wearing them for 8+ hours.
✨ And my favorite reason…you get even more portraits in your wedding dress! 📷
Because let’s be real... wedding days move fast, timelines shift, and portrait time isn’t always as long as I wish I could have 🙈

A bridal session gives you the chance to slow down, soak it all in, and create beautiful images without the pressure of the wedding day timeline.
And now that the wedding has officially happened, I can finally share some of these!!! 🥲🤍

My younger self would be absolutely shocked.

This month marks 7 years since I officially started my business. ✨

Lately, I’ve caught myself focusing on what’s not happening fast enough. But this photo reminded me to pause and look at what has happened. 💭
Looking back, I realize I was building something special long before I gave myself credit for it.
What started as a slightly delusional dream became a full-time career over four years ago, keeps a roof over my head, fills my weekends with wedding celebrations, and keeps Nala fed. 🐶 🐾
Feeling extra grateful heading into another wedding weekend. 🤍
