one of the things that pushed me to pivot my business towards pet photography was starting a job at this year. my daily cat petting stats are at an all time high, and let me tell you it’s been a blast. i think i hesitated to pursue pet photography because i had this (dumb) voice in my head telling me that my whole entire life can’t revolve around kitties. turns out it can and it does and it will ❤️🐾

hey what’s up hello! you might have noticed (or maybe you didn’t. either way.) that i’ve been a lot less active on this account over the past year or so. unless you’re watching my stories for my incredibly correct reality TV hot takes and far too frequent screaming at the government, you probably have no idea what i’ve been up to. so, let me fill you in! turns out being old and loving an 8pm bedtime is not exactly conducive to being a full-time concert photographer 🤪 transparently, my business hasn’t been the same since the you-know-what in 2020. i’ve spent a lot of time thinking about what direction i want to take things. i don’t think i’ll ever give up show photography, but it won’t be where i’m putting most of my energy moving forward.

so here’s the shift: since the first day i picked up a camera almost 9 years ago, i’ve joked that i “just want to be a full-time cat photographer.” and over time, that’s felt less like a joke and more like a plan. so while i’ve got a whole laundry list of rebranding logistics ahead of me, consider this my official social media hard launch: i’m pivoting to full-time pet photography! 🐱🐶

on a recent trip to Lake George to work a wedding, our criteria for accommodations were simply “cute, affordable, good reviews”. the Doray Motel checked all of those boxes, so we stayed. as we were checking out on sunday, we got a chance to chat a bit with the owner of the motel.

Mohamed told us about how he immigrated from Pakistan in the 80s. he told us about how his wife is a doctor and when the retired they opted to purchase the motel. it works out great for them, as they live on site during their months of operation, and then travel down south during the winters. he told us he’d stayed in texas and florida, and upon mentioning that i was from georgia, he told me they had once stayed 10 minutes from my hometown. as we were packing up the car to leave, he brought us out a couple sprite zeros and strawberry kiwi sodas for the road, undoubtedly out of his own fridge.

i am so thankful for the chance to travel to gorgeous places that make the world feel big and exciting, and equally grateful for the chance to meet the people who make it still feel small ⛰️ ✨

this show really took me back to like 7 years ago where i was spending any night i could photographing some screamy band in some tiny venue. i always feel a lil rusty going into shows these days, but it’s just like riding a bike. a very loud, sweaty bike.
