Now, a little behind-the-scenes…

There are so many beautiful sessions you’ll never see from me—and that’s intentional.

I believe these moments belong to my clients first. I typically wait until they share their photos before I do, and if they ask me not to post them at all, I happily respect that. Their trust will always mean more to me than content.

Thankfully, I photograph enough amazing people that I don’t have to share every session to stay consistent. I’d much rather be known as the photographer who protects her clients’ memories just as much as she captures them. 🤍

I’ve been seeing a beautiful shift in my maternity sessions — more women being celebrated, supported, and genuinely loved by their partners throughout pregnancy.

And let me remind you… there are amazing Black men out here. Men who take care of their women. Men who are excited to become fathers. Men who show up in ways that deserve to be celebrated too.

I built a pool… not because I had to, but because the vision deserved it.

A few pieces of wood, a tarp, buckets of water, and a whole lot of “trust me, it’s going to come together.” 😂

That’s probably the biggest difference between booking a photographer and booking an experience. If I can’t find the set I imagine in my head, I’ll build it.

One of the questions I get asked the most is, “How do I choose a theme for my maternity session?”

The truth is… there’s no wrong answer. But if you’re feeling stuck, here are a few places to start:

🤍 Your baby’s nursery. If you’ve already picked colors or a theme, your maternity portraits can become part of that story.

🎈 Your baby shower. Balloons, florals, teddy bears, butterflies, bows… you’ve probably already chosen a color palette you love.

🏡 Your home. Think about where you’ll display your portraits. Choosing colors that complement your space means they’ll feel timeless.

✨ Or simply choose what represents you. Soft and romantic. Bold and glamorous. Minimal and clean. This season is about celebrating your journey into motherhood—not following trends.

I’ve photographed so many milestones for Berniya, and getting to celebrate this one meant so much. 🎓

Her mom spent the session bragging on how determined she is. She even laughed about Berniya taking her laptop to the Dominican Republic just to stay on top of her assignments. That’s the kind of dedication that gets you across the finish line.

To every woman—and especially every mom—working toward a degree while juggling real life… don’t let this milestone pass without celebrating it. You’ve earned these photos just as much as you’ve earned that diploma.
