Some families gather for a weekend. Others gather from all corners of the country, making the miles disappear for a few precious days together.
This wonderful crew met me in the mountains of Newry, Maine, where we began at the historic Sunday River Covered Bridge before making our way to one of the most breathtaking mountain views. As we photographed grandparents with their children and grandchildren, the skies began putting on a show of their own. Dark clouds rolled over the peaks, lightning flickered in the distance, and just as we wrapped up the final photos, the heavens opened. We all laughed, sprinted to our cars, and ended the evening completely soaked!
Sometimes the weather doesn't cooperate—but it becomes part of the story. And years from now, I hope these photos remind them not only of how beautiful the mountains were, but of the laughter, the race through the rain, and the joy of having everyone together in one place.
