Maine weather really kept us guessing for Nathalie & Patrick’s wedding at Peakes Hill Lodge this weekend! The sun came out just in time for their ceremony before the rain returned for portraits — but these two laughed their way through all of it. From their sweet ceremony to Patrick’s special father-daughter dance with their little girl, it was such a fun day celebrating the three of them! Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Later!

The N family happened to have both sets of grandparents in town at the same time, so they knew it would be the perfect opportunity to get family portraits taken! They invited me to their home in Bath, which was an absolute gorgeous and unique property with a secret-garden type vibe! There were vine covered trellises, an abundance of blooming hydrangeas, stone statues, a little bridge over a pond where the kids looked for frogs, and even fresh grapes growing on vines! Each of the kids share one of their grandparents names as their middle name, so of course we had to get photos of each of the kids with their namesakes. Another beautiful evening with a beautiful family!

Four years in a row with the Bienkowski Family in Acadia! Each summer they vacation in Bar Harbor, and I’ve been lucky enough to photograph them while they’re here. This year we returned to the beautiful Otter Cliffs, but added a new location that’s become part of their Maine tradition — the Bar Island sand bar! Their vacation home is just a short walk away, and throughout their stay they make their way across the sand bar at low tide to explore the tide pools, wander toward Bar Island, and catch the sunset. I love when we can incorporate a place into a session that isn’t just beautiful, but already holds memories for the family.

I spent an evening at Moosehead Lake in Greenville with this lovely family! Their family lake house has this incredible view that is breathtaking at sunset! There were 3 families of ducks and ducklings that frequently visited, so of course we had to get a few photos of them as well! Just by moving from one side of the dock to the other, I was able to get a great variety of backdrops for this family. The 4 girl cousins have the sweetest friendship, and it was fun coming up with ideas for photos with them! I hope these photos bring them right back to Summer in Maine and the feel of the lake breeze!

David & Mylee were married on Saturday in Mars Hill, and it was such a beautiful reason to make the drive to Northern Maine! From the soft blue and white florals and delicate details to their church ceremony and gorgeous reception at Legacy Ranch, every part of their day felt so thoughtfully put together. Mylee even put together all of the floral arrangements herself! Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Tuttle!

It can be rare for me to photograph a native Maine family during the summer, when so many of my clients are from out of state! I met this lovely family at their shared Maine lakehouse in East Waterboro earlier this month. It was a very sunny, and the temperatures were easily in the 90s that evening, so we were all sweating before the photos even started! Photographers will know that lake sessions are notoriously difficult due to the bright reflections on the water as compared to the dark shade on the shoreline. This was probably one of the more difficult lighting situations I've faced, given that the sun was directly across from their home, so there was little shade to work with until the sun went over the horizon. The family was patient and flexible while I explored the property, and found a small area with some shade that wasn't too dark to start in! We eventually were able to go onto the dock once the sun started setting, and thankfully the kids still had a few photos left in them! I love how this session came out, and even better, the family loves it as well!

A night at Goose Rocks Beach with the S family left me covered in soft sand and with a big smile on my face! These sweet boys had such different personalities. The little guy loved the water, and also loved shoveling handfuls of sand into his mouth! His big brother was more shy, and the water made him a little nervous, but he loved seeing all of the boats and running along the shoreline. I loved that Mom thought ahead and brought a change of clothes for the second half of the session - knowing her boys would be covered in water and sand pretty quickly! I'm a sucker for anything with lobsters on it for a Maine beach session!

A little peek into Chris and Sue's wedding at Mountain House on Sunday River! They traveled up from Connecticut with their closest friends and family to get married in the Western Maine mountains—and what a backdrop Maine gave them!

Rain clouds loomed all day, but absolutely nothing was putting a damper on this crew. Chris and Sue found a second chance at love in each other, and there was something extra special about watching two people who already know what really matters choose each other and bring their families together.

Honestly, those cloudy skies made the mountains look even dreamier, and we made the most of every corner of Sunday River, from the sweeping mountain backdrop to the covered bridge and even an old ski lift that was practically begging to be used for a photo!

A beautiful day, a whole lot of laughter, and two people very, very happy to have found each other. Congratulations, Chris & Sue!

The extended Laney family all came to Maine together and stayed at the Spruce Point Inn Resort in Boothbay Harbor. We met there for their session on a VERY sunny, warm, and humid summer evening! The rocky coastline, evergreen trees, long wooden dock made for the perfect Maine backdrop. I may have ended the evening drenched in sweat, but these beautiful photos made it all worth it!

I met up with Mylee and David at Moose Point State Park in Searsport for their engagement session, just a few weeks before they say “I do” at Legacy Ranch & Event Center in Mars Hill!

One of my favorite little details from their session was the bouquet Mylee brought along, made entirely from flowers she grew herself. 💐 Between the rocky Maine coast, her homegrown blooms, the soft colors of the sunset, and even a great blue heron making an appearance, it was such a sweet summer evening.

Can’t wait to photograph these two again at the end of the month, this time on their wedding day! 🤍
