One thing about being married to a cybersecurity expert? He takes protecting your photos just as seriously as I take creating them. 🖤

My husband, Justin, just launched Cloak and Blade, his cybersecurity business (so proud of him 🥹🥹) and I wanted to share a little about the person helping me protect things behind the scenes here.

He spent 10 years supporting the Department of Defense, and he’s brought that same attention to security to my business, helping secure my website, strengthen my account protection and protect the private images you trust me with.

Every business has an origin story. Here's mine. 🗡️

I spent 10 years supporting the Department of Defense, protecting systems where the stakes are high. I never planned on bringing that work home. Then my wife Ashley started building her businesses, Bo***ir by Ashley and Serpent and Sage .

Then she got hit with an account takeover. Getting it back was stressful, slow, and completely preventable.

I became her IT guy. I locked down her website and the store's tech, and helped her through more than one website rebuild.

That's when it clicked. If this could happen to her, it was happening to small businesses all over the CSRA, and most of them don't have someone at home who does this for a living.

Ashley also kept hearing the same worry from other photographers: “how do I keep my clients' galleries private?” For bo***ir photographers especially, those images are built on trust. A leaked gallery or a hijacked account isn't just a tech problem. It's someone's most personal moment.

She looked at me and said, "You can help with this."

So I started Cloak and Blade: cybersecurity built for small businesses, by someone who's been in the fight.

I try to do an “about me” post a few times a year because somehow there are always new babes here and I feel like you should probably know a little about the woman yelling “ARCH YOUR BACK” from behind the camera 😂🖤

So hiiii, I’m Ashley! Owner + photographer of Bo***ir by Ashley 🥰

I absolutely fu***ng LOVE what I do. Bo***ir has become such a huge part of who I am, and one of the coolest parts of this job is all the women I’ve met along the way. So many clients have turned into actual friends, which still blows my mind because technically you all hired me to take half-naked pictures of you and now we’re having coffee and lunch dates 😆❤️

A few random facts about me:

• I’m 34 😱 I’ve been with my husband for 16 years and we have 3 kiddos!

• I LOVE gardening and between that, my chickens and quail, my husband jokes all the time that I’m slowly turning our house into a tiny homestead 😆

• I have ADHD. If you’ve ever met me or had a session with me, this probably explains a few things 🤣

• I’ve been doing photography for about 12 years! I started with family/newborn/maternity photography and made my way to full time Bo***ir in 2019!

• I was born and raised in California and have lived in Georgia for about 8 years now. I do miss California a lot, the scenery is just so beautiful 😩

• I’m obsessed with reptiles, plants, and animals in general. 🪴🐍 We currently have 6 snakes, 2 bearded dragons and 2 geckos. My office is also a sunroom filled with all of my plants lol

• I am absolutely a night owl and hateeeee early mornings.

• I love a good nap lol. If there’s time for one, I’ll squeeze it in!

• The beach is probably my favorite place in the world. After my mom passed, we spread her ashes at one of our favorite beaches in California, so being near the ocean has always made me feel a little closer to her 🖤

• When I have free time, I love reading, playing my Switch or Steam Deck, watching horror movies or true crime! My fave book genre is definitely thrillers, but I do love a good s**t book 😏

• I’m also a huge supporter of the people I care about. I will absolutely hype you up, share your stuff, cheer you on, and remind you that you’re doing better than you think 🥰

And one thing I’m really proud of: I’m completely self-taught in bo***ir photography.

I have spent SO much time and money learning everything I can about it. Posing, lighting, editing, lingerie, angles, expression, body language, all of it.

I worked my ass off to make sure I actually understand what I’m doing and how to create images that look the way I want them to while still showing off how beautiful YOU are.

Bo***ir isn’t something I just randomly decided to offer one day. I’ve spent years learning it, refining it and figuring out exactly how I want my work to look and feel and I’m still always learning!

Anyway, I think that’s enough about me before this turns into a full autobiography 😅

Sappy post incoming 😭

I’m sitting here going through my content call applications and some of these stories are absolutely wrecking me you guys 😩

Domestic violence. Abuse. Surviving s*x trafficking. Losing a husband or partner. Becoming a full-time caregiver for the person you love while they fight cancer or had a horrible accident. Fighting cancer yourself. Divorce. Grief. Spending years taking care of everyone else and realizing somewhere along the way you completely lost yourself.

Some of these women have been through things no one should ever have to survive and they applied because they are trusting me enough to tell me about it.

That part is really fu***ng getting me 😭

Because I know this might look like “just a bo***ir shoot” from the outside, but for a lot of these women, it isn’t.

It’s taking their body back after someone made them ashamed of it.

It’s reclaiming a sense of ownership over themselves after abuse, exploitation, or trafficking tried to take that away.

It’s looking at themselves after cancer and seeing something other than what the illness took from them.

It’s doing something for themselves after years of being someone else’s caregiver.

It’s learning how to exist again after losing the person they thought they’d grow old with.

It’s saying, “I survived this. I’m still here. And I deserve to feel like ME again.”

I’ve gotten emotional reading these. I’ve gotten angry reading these. I’ve wanted to hug complete strangers through my phone.

And I genuinely wish I could choose every single woman who applied.

Thank you for trusting me with the parts of your stories that hurt. I don’t take that lightly. Ever. 🖤

She added on allll the things 🥳 I was so excited to shoot in the greenhouse after putting up these gorgeous red curtains and a fun chandelier over the clawfoot tub. I’m in love 😍 More red curtains are definitely going up in here for more color 🤌🏼
