When should you schedule family photos?

If you're planning family pictures in Northern Colorado, especially if you want to use them for holiday cards, timing matters.

Fall family photography sessions are popular, and you'll want to allow enough time for your session, choosing your favorite images, ordering holiday cards and getting them mailed.

So when is the best time to take family photos for holiday cards? Ideally, schedule your Northern Colorado family photography session several weeks before you need your cards.

I’m honored to be named a 2026 SeniorInspire Influencer and to have two of my senior portraits published in the Summer 2026 issue.

More than 2,000 images were submitted for this year’s Influencer Contest, with 140 photographers ultimately featured in the magazine.

The editor, Nick Porcaro, wrote:

There were bold colors, quiet moments, dramatic locations, beautiful light, and plenty of images that made me stop and take a second look. Bella | Platte Valley High School | Class of 2027

She has been so much fun to work with! She is one of my Carol’s Crew reps, so I’ve had the opportunity to photograph her for several sessions over this year. I actually met her before that during a family session and when I photographed her older sister, so it has been especially fun getting to know her and watch her grow.

For her senior session, we included some things that were especially meaningful to her. When she spotted the bear statue in downtown Fort Collins, getting some fun images with it was a must! She also brought her Bible, which was very important to her and made the session even more personal.

I love creating senior portraits that aren't just pretty pictures, but actually reflect who each senior is and what matters to them. She made that especially easy because she brought so much personality and meaning to her session!

A little behind-the-scenes from Summer’s senior session yesterday in Greeley! 🤍

We packed a LOT into this session. We started at Music Alley, headed over to the Warehouse District, and finished up at Houston Gardens. And because senior pictures should be personal, Summer brought along two things that are a big part of her life: her guitar and her sweet bunny, Jackson. 🐰🎸

This is one of my favorite parts of senior sessions. It’s not just about taking pretty pictures. It’s about bringing the things you love, going to places that feel like you, and creating images that actually tell your story.

Your senior pictures should be about more than what you look like. They should show a little bit of who you are. 🤍

Maybe that's your sport.
Your music.
Your favorite animal.

An accomplishment you're proud of.
A childhood memory.
Something that reminds you where you've come from.

Never knowing what she's going to say, or what she's going to do. Yep. That’s Jayda. 😂

And I still have two Carol’s Crew sessions and a community service project left with her. Lord help me - I'm going to seriously miss her next year! 😂❤️

There’s just something different about seeing your favorite images printed in an album instead of scrolling past them on a phone.

A senior portrait album tells the whole story of your session - the different outfits, locations, expressions, little details, and all those images you loved but couldn’t possibly choose just one of.

For the seniors and families I photograph throughout Greeley, Fort Collins, Loveland, Eaton, and Northern Colorado, albums are one of my favorite ways to turn their senior portraits into something they can actually hold onto.

The laughter. The friendships. The memories. ❤️

That's what Carol's Crew is all about.

Every year, students from high schools across Northern Colorado come together for experiences like this.

This year's team includes students from Platte Valley, Severance, Loveland, Eaton, and Valley High Schools.

Many of these girls didn't know each other before joining Carol's Crew, and now they're cheering each other on, laughing together, and creating friendships that extend far beyond a photo session.

This behind-the-scenes video is a glimpse of our Back-to-School session. While you'll eventually see the finished pictures, I also wanted you to see everything that happens in between - the conversations, the laughter, the encouragement, and the fun! Those moments are just as important to me because they're part of what makes Carol's Crew so special.
