I had the incredible opportunity of going out to produce media this last weekend at Lost Lake and I couldn't have predicted how amazing the show was.

I got there as early as possible - coming from an AS WE RISE recording session πŸ₯ and showed up while A Vintage Future was on. They're always a steampunkmetal good time. I was particularly bummed I missed NVR ENDVR as they've been on my list to catch. I'll have to make that happen. πŸ”œ

Origami Summer was really incredible and shocked me at how diverse their catalog was. Just a ton of get dynamics and a lot of big sounds. πŸ”Š

When Blood Across The Sky took the stage all hell broke loose. Their energy combined with a great audience made a lot of us feel entranced in the moment. It was a brutal assault that harkened to some of my favorite bands that broke all the social media rules and made me want to dig into heavier music. This vibe was perforated perfectly with lines you'd hear from Tom Delonge - a nice meld of metalcore and punk rock vibes.

The great showpeople from Ghost In Stereo finished out the night, somehow ramping the energy up to their favor.

I can't wait to share more from the set from Blood Across The Sky. The images are emotive and crazy, just like the set I was so lucky to witness.

More on this night, coming shortly.

Ashes & Philth really tore it up this last weekend at HQ. A three piece from Grand Junction, if you weren't watching in a live setting you would have no idea it was a power trio.

Ashes & Philth started their set with some ethereal heavy sounds and then added elements of thrash and gothic metal to an otherwise systematic extreme metal bill the rest of the night. It was really great to watch a set with a lot of dynamics for contrast. I could hear all the influences popping out like a game of whack-a-mole - ranging from British heavy metal to elements normally relegated to dark or alternative rock. Just when I expected the show to go progressively sofer a thrash riff that sounded like it was written by Jeff Hanneman would hit your ears with some complimentary double bass to make it extra believable. πŸ₯

The night featured performances by Angelic Desolation, Hester Mofet , and the mighty LET THEM BURN - which was absolutely another pure highlight from the night. The LTB performance was one of the highest energy sets I've seen in years of seeing shows at HQ and it was NOT a short set. Their guitarist has some of the best tone and tastiest riffs. Keep an eye out. πŸ‘οΈ

Ashes and Philth is a band to watch in 2026. They have a ton of dynamics and infinite potential. I'm looking forward to watching them on their journey and can't wait to see them again. Make sure you hit that follow button and keep watch for future show announcements. πŸ“…

Scroll through to see Jello Biafra best known for his time in Dead Kennedys stage dive at the epic Dead Pioneers show a few weeks back at the Gothic Theatre. πŸ¦Έβ€β™‚οΈ

Being stage left to capture this was pure coincidence, but a great omen to start off 2026 right! βœ…οΈ

Go listen to some Dead Pioneers and get to a local show near you.

I've been to thousands of shows in my life and I'm so glad I didn't miss the absolute punk rock history that was made while attending the Gothic Theatre on Saturday night. I thought I had previously witnessed a lot of crowd surfers and stage dives in years past at Vans Warped Tour, Snocore, Ozzfest, etc - this last Saturday night was by far the most I've ever seen during one single set. 🫠

I shot all the intense pit action in black and white as some of my favorite images of rowdy shows growing up all had that old school Rolling Stone monochrome vibe that helped tell the story. πŸŒͺ I'll share those and a special appearance by Jello Biafra later this week. It's super cool to just be in the same room as someone well known for activism as well as a long list of contributions with Dead Kennedys and to punk music and culture as a whole.

Come back tomorrow to see more from this highly impactful show as well as a special stage appearance from Jello.

Go listen to some Dead Pioneers today - share it with your friends. I wholeheartedly belive they're the next era of punk. 🎸
