On my way to Florida, I spent the night in Mobile, Alabama at the Battle House Renaissance Hotel. It’s yet another classic old American hotel, with a wide, open lobby and beautiful architecture. The original structure was built in 1850 and was steeped in southern history. That hotel was destroyed in a fire in 1905. This is the restored version that opened in 1908. It is simply gorgeous. I will have more images and video later.

Spent time at Jocelyn Nungaray Wildlife Refuge in Texas along the Gulf Coast today. Second time I have been there. Continue to be blown away with how much you get to see. Today I saw 2 birds I have never seen before: Stilt Sandpiper and Black-necked Stilt. And Gators!! I have never seen so many Gators! I will be back tomorrow to do some filming, and then visit McFadden Wildlife Refuge further east. So much fun.

I am on a road trip again. I am dropping off our Mustang convertible (which doesnt like winter in Colorado) in Florida for winter storage, and am taking advantage of the opportunity to do some photography on the trip. This morning I am in Fort Worth, Texas. Last time I was here I stayed in a hotel on the outskirts and didn’t explore at all. This time I stayed at an old hotel downtown, and took these photos last night and today on a morning walk. Much more colorful, interesting, and enjoyable.

We have been going through a process where we are having newer work printed to go up on the wall here, and retire some of our older images. We have printed two bird images and they look great. Today we decided to print this image of the amazing Molly Tsunami Christopher-Anderson and I sent the order in this afternoon. It took us about a minute to decide we wanted it on the wall. Easiest decision I have made in awhile. I really don’t show stuff in galleries anymore. But I do like having them here on the wall. And you can certainly visit. Hours by appointment.

Despite our +90° heat these past couple of weeks our Rose of Sharon bush has been blooming. Probably helps that we have had some afternoon showers here and there during this period, as we have been following water restrictions. Certainly doing better than I am in this weather.

Transferring files for long term storage and came across this one from our stop in Kearney Nebraska during Sandhill Crane migration. I have photographed these guys so many times I even feel a kinship with them. Their call is immediately recognizable, and the fact they have been doing this migration for 2.5 million years just blows me away. They occupy a special place in my heart. So happy when I get to see them.

These portraits of the lovely Bets () were captured last year at a shoot at a park in Colorado Springs. So much fun to work with, and I came away with so many shots. It was fun today to go back with fresh eyes and take another look. So to speak.
