One of my favorite bridal portraits ever, and it wasn't planned at all. Hannah and Eli were signing the ketubah after their ceremony and I was struck by how beautifully the light was hitting her in this important moment. I do a fair amount of prompting and suggesting, but it's also important to know when to shut your mouth and just pay attention to what's naturally happening around you.

When it starts to rain exactly when it's time for portraits and you don't want to be soaking wet before the ceremony even begins, you have to move quickly. I'm glad Brit and Christopher were still willing to go outside, but I shouldn't have been surprised. They were maybe the most relaxed people ever. The botanic gardens are a beautiful place to get married. Even if you don't have your actual ceremony there, you can plan for a little extra time in the day to go there for some private, quiet portraits. That's what Karina and Sebastian did, and even though it was incredibly warm that day, I have a feeling we'll be missing the sunshine in a week or two.

If you're going to a (much) higher elevation, it's important to take pictures on the way up. I'm not sure we had quite this much enthusiasm after the altitude and surprise rain played their part. It was still a lovely day, and I'm super excited to see Moira and Kevin get married this summer at the same place my husband and I had our wedding!

If it were up to me, every wedding would have a dog in it. Sometimes the weather or location don't really lend themselves well to our canine companions, which is why engagement sessions are the perfect time to bring them along! It's a little more relaxed and less pressure for dogs who may not be able to make it through a whole day full of new and exciting things. We're so spoiled by the amazing mountains and wilderness of Colorado that sometimes I forget the amazing architecture that exists here too! When Karina said she wanted something with a "classic" feel, the Capitol building seemed like the perfect spot. If you visit, you can even find the exact step that marks one mile of elevation and gives our city its name! Congratulations Karina and Sebastian- can't wait to see you get married later this summer!
