Don’t be afraid of going slow, just be afraid of not moving at all…..

💥It’s a common thing, comparing ourselves to other people and feeling downhearted and de-motivated about our progress.

☝🏽But remember! Anyone successful has had to go through a journey full of ups and down to get there. And you are no different.

🎬 All your doing is comparing your real life journey to someone else’s highlight reel 🎥🚫

💪🏼 Don’t be afraid of going slow - the process itself is where you learn, where you get better, more confident, more skilled, more experienced.

⏩ It’s more important to ask yourself if your moving forward, by looking at your previous work and setting yourself goals you can avoid standing still.

📸Get out there and shoot, learn, get it wrong, then go back and get it right.

This was the highlight of my weekend!

Meeting academy member Wil and talking about his progress through the course and answering any questions he had.

I love talking about photography to anyone, but it really was a special feeling to have Wil on board and helping him to come away with great photos.

Shooting in Qatar under the lights! 💡
⬅️⬅️ Swipe for how this shot was done.

Shooting action in low light brings a different challenge, where you have to balance being able to stop the action with not letting your ISO go too high.

If your shutter is too high, then you stop lots of valuable light coming in and it forces you to have a high ISO which can lead to a noisy final image.

If your shutter is too low then you risk getting blurry photos.

In this shot I am using the foreground as an interesting element and to help frame the subject in a 3rd of the frame.

I'm shooting fairly wide open (low F number) to A) let lots of light in and B) to help blur the foreground and prevent it from being a distraction.

I tried shooting at f/2.8 at first, but the quality wasnt perfect becuase there was still a fair amount of heat coming off the track between me and the subject, stopping up to f/3.2 was enough to fix this.

My shutter is fairly fast because I was shooting a race action shot, where the main aim is to show a group of riders fighting for track position.

In this scenario I care less about motion blur and more about capturing the moment - Also, because at this spot there is less horizontal movement a slower shutter would not have added more motion blur or speed to the frame.
