“If you’re not living in the conversation of your existence, what fate have you accepted for yourself?” - M

All this morning as I went through my routine of stretching, breathing, and meditating, my oldest dog Burt stayed by my side, licking my hands and adjusting to my movements as I went through all of my motions, to stay close by. By Burts’s standards, not usual behaviour. Burt has seen the worst of me and the best of me.

This is me at 7 years old. 7 years was a lifetime then. Imagine that. What does 7 years look like to you these days? I guess that depends on the context.

7 years ago, I made a drastic change to how I wanted to live my life.

I decided that I wanted to do my best to be a better person every day. All you can do is try. We are an evolutionary species that is part of an evolutionary universe. Evolving is what we do.

I’ve tried to live by some simple rules over these past 7 years:

Learn something new every day.

100 percent honesty

Every day is a new opportunity to make change

Don’t fear the unknown. That’s where the magic happens.

I think Burt was trying to tell me something this morning. I think I got the message.

8:30 am this morning and I'm enjoying the sun on my face, as well as the fact that my mood has shifted 180 degrees overnight. It may not look like it, but I'm loving being me right now. The past week had been heavy, for whatever reasons. The world, the inescapable news cycle, the fact that a numeral was shifting on my chronological age, watching humans get duped into an endless cycle of dugital dopamine hits, who knows, but it sucked.

I spent the past couple of days in the company of old and dear friends, pushing my emotions to the side and doing my best to put on a brave face. But it wasnt until I was asked to reflect on, by a special friend last night, what I was proud of the most over the 365 previous days that had past, did I realize what a special life I have. It's not fancy, but its real. The people i surround myself with are real. I've done things I never dreamed of doing 10 years ago. I'm not winning awards or cashing big checks, but that's not the point. I've challenged myself and actually made stuff I'm proud of, while meeting amazing new humans along the way.

As I watched the delightful performance of one of favorite local artists, I took a moment to take a hard look at myself, and wonder how I got here, to this place that can be so mentally challenging and rewarding all the same. Im not the only one that feels this way, was my realization, and that is the hard truth.

Today is a new day...

Dusted off the live music photo skills and stepped into Free Week for a minute. Great to see good friends and some fine representations of some of Austin's best local talent.

A moment of your time:

If it comes across as ironic, the words that follow, you are not wrong. However, this is one of many platforms that I utilize to express myself cautiously and with a learned understanding of the true potential of these algorithm-fueled platforms, which once served the purpose of human connection on a digital scale but have shifted into something much more dangerous and detrimental. Most of you here are of the creative mindset, whether you create or consume for means of pleasure and maybe even survival. Maybe this place is just one way to reach an audience, which is understood. Once again, the irony.

I’m not here to preach about the evils of social media and the AI-fueled algorithms that are stripping humanity of its ability to connect on a human level. I just ask that we all practice balance. Take notice of your time. Take notice of your feelings. The news will reach you whether you want it to or not. Your true friends will reach you as well.

The world can be heavy as s**t these days, but let's not forget the beauty that still exists. It’s still here, it’s just getting pushed aside for your attention…

Thanks for listening, as reminders are important. I have to remind myself of this every fu***** day, and it’s not always easy…

Four years after final performance at Furnace Fest 2021, I had the opportunity to document the band returning to the stage for a rare run of four shows in one week of October 2025, closing Friday night at the in Las Vegas on Oct 10th.

The week began in their hometown of Austin, TX, Monday night, at , followed by a sold-out night at the . From there, the band headed to Las Vegas for a sold-out festival kickoff at , before the final performance on the main stage of the festival on Friday night.

Through this experience, I gained a deeper understanding of the connection between the band and its fans—an impact built over decades that continues to resonate with both past and current generations. A connection to the music that has continued to strengthen over decades despite the band’s years of inactivity. I look forward to sharing what was captured during my months with the band in the coming year, in whatever shape this story ultimately takes.

As part of this upcoming project, I’m asking Mineral fans from anywhere in the world to share their connection to the band. If their music has meant something to you, stayed with you over the years, or became part of your story, I’d love to hear it—in your own voice.  -MMalyPhotography

12.31.25: Ghost: I wasn’t going to do this, but then something interesting happened this evening. I was doing my usual, bored at home feeling like taking some photos while I decided to soak my stirring return of sciatica in the bathtub thing. Not the first time I’ve taken photos of myself in a bathtub I assure you. After taking a few photos, I proceeded to relax in the tub before it cooled down too much, and while having stopped taking photos for several minutes, the camera went off. The remote shutter was nowhere near me, dogs snoozing on the couch, just me and a camera. And maybe a ghost. I took it as a message.

So, we are all in agreement that 2025 in the world was a raging s**t show, no argument there, and not a surprise any longer. It’s become our daily lives. But, that doesn’t mean there wasn’t a lot of good that came out of the year. I have friends that have done amazing things both personally and professionally in 2025, and I have my own share of forward movement while challenging myself in ways that I never thought I would. Friends got married, made amazing music, played amazing shows, created some of their best artistic work, and challenged themselves to major life changes. I applaud each and every one of you.

It’s not easy living in this world today, but I am grateful for the people around me that don’t miss a beat and rise to the occasion of living a better life for themselves and the people around them, in whatever small way that they can.

Here's to more disruptive honesty!

Can’t wait to see what we do next year…

It’s a slow mover, but the intent was to keep it  true to my experience that day…

“LILIA”: A Visual Collaboration soundtracked by .capsule is out now. The accompanying single “Lilia” performed and produced by ambient artist Fat Capsule is out Friday 12.12.25. “Lilia” can be found on Fat Capsule’s upcoming debut full-length Apparitions of the Living out 1.03.2026.

A visual piece shot with no intent, no preconceived concept, and no destination. Just me, tuning into myself and following a pull that led to me to a beach, in a storm, first thing in the morning with a camera.

As I began to assemble the footage it became clear that it needed a soundtrack and the newly mastered tracks of Alexis’s shared recording felt appropriate. The beautiful spoken poem written and performed by Alexis Maple, soundtracked with Ramirez’s music fit. It fit almost too perfectly with synth washes syncing with the waves, unplanned and landing in the right scene.

“I am your son…”

6.14.25:

Sometimes it doesn't feel real...like an uninvited dream.

A mental reset in a city that harbors mysterious energy. A storm soaked walk on the beach and through downtown felt as surreal as life does right now, while providing the suitable backdrop for the mental state.

The storm is always temporary. Remind yourself.
