Noble Visions Widespread Panic New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival full gallery release!
There are shows that simply rise to meet the moment.
Widespread Panic’s return to the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival came with threatening skies, a weather-shifted afternoon, and the unmistakable feeling that something special was about to unfold. Even with the set cut short by the threat of rain, the band wasted no time turning the Fair Grounds into a full-force celebration of sound, spirit, and Crescent City electricity.
Opening with “Ain’t Life Grand” and moving through a powerful festival set that included “Greta,” “Surprise Valley,” “One Arm Steve,” “Saint Ex,” “Travelin’ Light,” “Thought Sausage,” “King Baby,” “I’m So Glad,” “Bust It Big,” “Fishwater,” and “Arleen,” Panic delivered exactly what the moment called for: grit, fire, joy, and total command of the stage.
The afternoon became even more memorable with special guests adding true New Orleans flavor to the performance. CR Gruver joined on keyboards for “Bust It Big,” while Dirty Dozen Brass Band members Gregory Davis on trumpet and Roger Lewis on baritone saxophone helped turn the closing “Fishwater” > “Arleen” > “Fishwater” sequence into a horn-driven Jazz Fest moment for the books.
Rain may have been on the horizon, but Panic brought the storm.
