Weddings at Lucky Arrow Ranch have a magic to them—where genuine moments unfold under the big beautiful Texas skies, and I love shooting there to capture all. It probably has to do with the serene Hill Country surroundings, and the majestic views. Soft light, earthy textures, soulful moments… Ranch is a special place and I’ve been honored to photograph some of my favorite weddings there ☘️⬆️ This one being tops. Congratulations on everything D & J!

Drive 20 minutes southwest from the cypress canopied bayous of Caddo Lake and you’ll arrive in Marshall, a quintessential small town steeped in musical history.

The town was founded in 1841, and the Texas and Pacific Railway arrived 30 years later, quickly becoming one of the area’s largest employers. Then Wiley University, the first historically Black college west of the Mississippi River, was established in 1873.

Marshall is known as the birthplace of boogie-woogie music, a style originated by African Americans in the late 1800s as they worked in logging camps and on the railroad. They turned to the piano to create a new sound influenced by rhythmic railroad reverberations, including a primary bass line called “The Marshall.”

These days, there are new restaurants, breweries, boutiques, and hotels opening up throughout the historical downtown—merging the present with the past.

The December issue of Texas Highways is here! This month, we focused on the noteworthy structures that dot the landscape.

Our state is interspersed with construction styles that span centuries. A way to explore this multicultural history is through our buildings—some crafted from adobe that have been standing for centuries, others from sand-hued limestone pulled up from beneath our feet.

In “By Design,” writer Clayton Maxwell surveys five architectural styles found across the state. From Victorian mansions topped with turrets to modernist chapels bathed in sunlight through stained-glass windows, the buildings featured are worthy detours and destinations.

In “Architecture of Restlessness,” writer Emily Gogolak delves into the history and enduring allure of the state’s roadside motels, which have offered bleary-eyed travelers an affordable place to stay for decades.

Throughout the rest of the issue, we interview architect Michael Hsu, visit a Scandinavian-spirited store in Plano, and stargaze from a dome in the Chihuahuan Desert.

Mandy & Jeremy! I love that weddings will continue indefinitely even though the time has come for to go on to its next adventure after it celebrates its last weddings in May 2026! Those are going to be some big parties!! Mandy & Jeremy’s Gatsby-inspired golden-hour blessed wedding was original from top to bottom. from her jawn dropping indescribably gorgeous gown to her white bridesmaids dresses. BEE-YOND! Now that the November issue of has been on the racks a few weeks I wanted to share some outtakes from the ‘Getaway’ shoot we did in Beeville 🐝. Before this intensive visit, I only knew it for its famed dental hygienist college, a good place to fuel up on the way to Port A, and little else. Who knew it had an art museum?! A pretty amazing one at that! And so many other sweet gems. It is…shall we say, buzz-worthy. 🫣😂

My favorite request lately is when people ask to see FULL GALLERIES of weddings, ya know to make sure every image is amazing and not just the stuff you see on IG and the blogs. I wish I could share every image from every wedding. I just get so hung up on *which image to post that best represents THAT particular couple and THAT particular wedding that I usually…just…don’t…post. But this wedding was so awesome. And these cats are so cool. So immagonna do something new. This is just a black and white getting ready post. Because why not 😁 , color to follow. And who knows what after that. Suggestions welcome.
