The most remarkable thing happened today. Melody Parker and I were on our way back from Garner NC and we decided to stop in Smithfield to go see our friend Kahla Bruhn who works at the bar at The Bar Association Smithfield. On our way there we called the venue and asked if it would be okay if we popped in with our guitar and sat in the backyard and worked out some songs for our show on Saturday. She said absolutely that's perfectly fine. So we pull in and we walk in with the guitar and there was a table of gentleman sitting there and they were like what are y'all going to be doing with that guitar? We said we're just here to go out into the courtyard and rehearse and one of those guys was like hey why don't y'all just do it in here we'd like to hear it. We looked at each other and we're like okay. I guess a rehearsal in front of people is probably the best rehearsal. So we go over and we pull out the guitar and we start playing some songs and we had no idea that one of the gentlemen sitting at that table was the actual owner of the bar. We went through like an hour of our songs and people were clapping and whatnot, but what was really cool is at the end of it we were putting our guitar away and we were about to leave and he walks out of the office and says I'll give you $100 if you will play an extra hour. I say is it okay if we go grab our actual PA system and set up microphones? He says absolutely. So I tell him give me like 20 minutes. So after that we come back in and we get set up and we play for the audience and we had a really wonderful time. Melody got a lot of accolades from her voice from that and people were hooting and hollering at my guitar work apparently. Then he walks up and says can you guys play next Tuesday for 3 hours? We said absolutely yes we can. So we are now booked at the Bar Association in Smithfield NC for next tuesday. All we wanted to do was go and practice and the next thing you know we're getting paid to play a gig that we didn't know we were playing and we were wearing flip-flops and now we have another gig next week so things are looking up.
