Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion does something to you that's hard to explain until you're standing trackside and a Group C cars roar by in a symphony of anger and fury. The Mazda 787B, the first Japanese winner of the 24-Hour Of LeMans flashes by along side a Williams FW11 Honda Turbo goes by as they roll in formation. Or watching the small but mighting '62 Lotus 22 screaming down to the Corkscrew at Laguna Seca... This is something special, something else.

All of this is here to remind us that we're alive to feel. We're here to be moved. We're here because watching these racing cars blast by at the limit of grip...its one of the few things left on this planet that yanks you completely into the present moment and reminds you to put the phone down and go enjoy the damn ride.

I think that's why you'll find Daniel Wu 吴彦祖 driving his Datsun 510 or Zak Brown driving his Jaguar XJR-9. That's the obsession of of feeling alive. And no matter who we are, we want to be alive. These amazing help reminds us.

Here in the wild of you may have seen this absolute unit of a Carbon that just schooled some very expensive European feelings on wheels and here's the thing nobody saw coming: we were using this 9,000 pound electric beast as our camera truck. The real surprise wasn't just that it could keep up with Ferraris and Lambos, it was watching this giant on steroids casually pulled ahead while our camera crew casually filmed the exotics behind it in the cabin! Nothing says "plot twist" quite like a truck that looks like it ate a Transformer for breakfast becoming the hero of a high end automotive production.

Being part of this massive shoot was incredible and watching our camera truck make these weekend track toys look pedestrian never got old. Afterwards we got a ride in it where the crew put the truck into "FREEDOM" Mode. That felt like hitting lightspeed in the Millennium Falcon, lol.

Things I thought about while being 4 floors up in the air as the wind is blowing me around...

1. Holy Moly, that's the last 4 flying in the world!
2. It's really f*cking windy up here!!
3. I should have charged more!!!
4. Man it would really suck if I dropped my camera.
5. Man it would really suck if I fell over.
6. Don't look down, don't look down.

Got to shoot this Beck 550 Spyder replica – a tribute to the Porsche 550 Spyder legendary racing machine (made famous by James Dean) and honestly couldn't believe this beauty was sitting in front of my camera.

There's something about cars built with soul that just photograph differently. Some cars, they take awhile to find their best angles...these, well they never even try. Effortlessly cool. They tell stories because someone actually cared enough to get their hands dirty building them.

I didn't even have to spend a lot of time because they're just so damn photogenic. Hell, they could probably take better selfies than I do! Plus, they make me look way cooler than I actually am. 📸

There's a reason captured our imagination.

Think about how much AI-generated space art exists. The moon. The launches. The suits. All of it — endless, flawless, instantly forgettable.

So what actually made the world stop and cheer for those four astronauts?
You can feel it when you see the real images. The culmination of years of hard work, failures, breakthroughs — that quiet certainty that what you're looking at actually happened. That someone was there. That the moment was real.

AI can't manufacture that feeling. It can only imitate the surface of it. As we hand more of our visual world over to algorithms, we risk losing something we might not notice until it's gone — the sense that what we're seeing actually happened. That it mattered enough for someone to show up and witness it.

I leave you with this thought for your own brands...Photography witnesses. AI generates. There's a difference. And we can all still feel it.

Going behind the scenes for a shoot for ! Often you're working with a condensed timeline in a small team trying to get your shots in. But when you've prepared, have the right equipment (thanks to ) and great communication - you can achieve anything.

I had the wonderful opportunity to DP a commercial shoot for DFW Airport last year. What a whirlwind of a project - multiple locations around the airport but thankfully the team we put together was incredible. They were fast on their feet, extremely mobile and made my life extremely easy. And the models were amazing as well!

The lighting conditions changed drastically with overhead lighting as well as having to pivot to inside of a garage. We also had to find ways to light subjects inside a bus and from within a car. Moving fast is priority on my shoots.

The team handled the transitions incredibly, partly thanks to the gear that I depend on for my commercial work. Peep the BTS!
