Take Flight

My favorite thing to do when vacationing in San Sebastián was sitting on the balcony watching the people shuffle around below. This pigeon decided to join me for a bit before taking off to presumably find some bread crumbs to snack on outside the restaurants below.

Fun fact, Columbus Circle is the geographic center of NYC, and is the location used to measure all official distances to NYC.

East "River"

Despite its name, the East River that flows below the Brooklyn Bridge isn't actually a river. Rather, its a tidal strait, connecting on both ends to the ocean.

In the unfortunate event you find yourself in the notoriously polluted water, you'd also find that it is salt water, unlike the Hudson River on the other side of Manhattan that is fresh water.

Before being renamed to New York in 1664, the southern tip of Manhattan was a Dutch settlement named New Amsterdam.

Either way, the large bouquet of flowers that the gentleman on the Roosevelt Island Tramway is proudly displaying for all of New York to see is sure to brighten someone's day.

Abandoned in West Texas

The desert of west Texas isn't the easiest place to survive. The small, abandoned towns on the route from Austin to Marfa, TX is a clear testament to that.
