This summer has left me with memories that will last a lifetime. I traveled out west twice and saw the beauty of Yellowstone National Park, Grand Teton National Park, Salt Lake City, Denver, and all the stops in between. The place that will forever draw me back though, is North Carolina. My family has been visiting these mountains for many years. And we just feel so at home. We took a hike up a mountain in Nantahala National Forest, and there was a fire tower at the very top. Conquering a fear of heights (and probably a newly discovered fear of climbing rickety, teeter-tottering, ancient fire towers) we trekked upwards to discover a scene that was well worth it. The tower provided us with 360° views of these mountains. WELL worth the sweat and ticks.
