IG: We started Nappy Time Portraits in the Austin area of Texas, in September 2018. Since then, we have created many seasonal and special photography scenes, as well as matched outfits, to capture special moments in a child’s growth. During a baby's first year, there's only so much you can do with professional photographers

and posing in studios. So Nappy Time Portraits let your sleeping child be the star of his or her own fantasy world, making your baby pictures look like they came from a story book! We also have standing photography sets for toddlers and young children. You can choose the photo backdrop that suits you and we can come to your home. In the comfort of a familiar place and surrounded by familiar friends and toys, your children will naturally smile in the picture. In October of 2020, when COVID-19 hit us miserably, we offered a 753 photography session (753 is a traditional rite of passage and festival day in Japan for three- and seven-year-old girls and five-year-old boys celebrating the growth and well-being of young children) to those who could not or decided not to go back to Japan to celebrate with their children. Our reputation spread and we now do various types of photography sessions, including family, senior, graduation, holiday, maternity photos, etc. We offer a unique, tailored, and flexible photography opportunity. I photograph tens of thousands of babies and children every year, and they’ve taught me something important: each child is wonderfully different 📸💕
Some children walk in ready to smile. Some need a silly joke. Some are curious about my camera, some are a little shy, and some need a moment before they’re ready. As a school photographer, I meet so many children in a single day that I’ve learned to read those little signals quickly. I may only have a few minutes with each child, but that experience helps me find the approach that works for them and bring out an expression that feels naturally theirs.

For private sessions, I use that same experience in a completely different way. We have time to slow down, play, explore, and let your child settle into the session at their own pace. Whether I have a few minutes or a whole session, I’m not looking for the same smile from every child. I want parents to look at their photos and think, “Yes, that’s my child❤️”

This Sunday, September 6, I’ll be back at Chibikko-kai with the Summer Festival mini photo session that was so popular last month 🏮

☀️ Can you almost hear her giggling?
This is one of my favorite images I captured at the last Chibikko-kai Summer Festival. Just look at that genuine smile! Every time I see this photo, I can almost hear her giggling again 💕

This is exactly why I love what I do.

I don’t just want to capture a beautiful portrait of your child. I want to capture the little expressions you know by heart. The big laugh, the sparkling eyes, the personality that is so completely them right now.

One day, I want you to look at these photographs and remember how their laughter sounded, how happy they were, and how much you loved this little stage of their life 💕

🤍 So tiny, for such a little while
Those sleepy stretches, tiny fingers, soft cheeks, and the way they curl up so perfectly in your arms…

The newborn days can feel endless when you’re living through the sleepless nights, but somehow, they pass in the blink of an eye.

That’s one of the reasons I love photographing this stage so much. It isn’t about creating a perfect moment—it’s about preserving all those tiny details that are already changing day by day.

One day, this little baby will be running around, talking nonstop, and filling the house with their own big personality.

But for now… just this tiny 🤍

💕 Motherhood doesn’t really get easier...it just changes.
When our children are little, they need us for almost everything. As they grow, they become more independent, and we slowly learn to step back.

But then there are days when something happens, a hard day at school, a friendship that suddenly feels complicated, a worry they’ve been carrying quietly, and everything else on our list suddenly feels a little less important.

As a mom and a photographer, I spend so much of my life watching children grow.

Between raising my own child and building Nappy Time Portraits, I’m constantly reminded that childhood isn’t only made of birthdays, milestones, and picture-perfect moments. There are happy days, difficult days, growing pains, and so many little changes happening in between.

I can’t fix every problem my child will face as she grows. But I hope she always knows that when life feels a little too big, she has a safe place to come back to.

Maybe that’s one of the most important parts of being a parent...being there, even as the way they need us keeps changing 💕

🏮 Summer Festival Mini Sessions 🏮
Nappy Time Portraits hosted special mini sessions at the Chibikko-kai Summer Festival in August!

The children looked absolutely adorable in their colorful yukata, beautifully styled by Kimono Mosaique with lovely hair arrangements by professional hairstylist Rio 💕 It was such a joy capturing so many happy children and families enjoying this special Japanese summer tradition 📸✨

These are many wonderful families who joined us. The festival was filled with smiles, laughter, delicious food, crafts, a children’s mikoshi parade, story time, and so much more!

A big thank-you to Masako Sullivan for once again giving us this wonderful opportunity 💕

And exciting news—we’ll be bringing back our popular Summer Festival photo booth for another mini session at the September Chibikko-kai gathering on Sunday, September 6! 🏮📸
