📸 Our Austin PPA Summer Social was more than just a meetup!
Each July, we step away from our usual gathering place at Precision Camera & Video and meet somewhere new—and this year, we had the perfect setting at Wanderlust Wine Co. off Shady Lane. 🍷📷

It was a wonderful evening of connecting with fellow photographers, getting creative with our cameras, and enjoying a beautiful venue. We were also fortunate to have some amazing models join us, giving our members the opportunity to practice, experiment, and create something new.
We love creating opportunities for our photography community to learn, connect, and, of course, have a little fun along the way!

📸 Austin PPA MEMBER SPOTLIGHT 📸

Meet Paulina Gwaltney owner and photographer of Shtooka Atelier.

Although she's only been a member of Austin PPA for a few months, she brings over 14 years of photography experience and a remarkable story of perseverance and creativity.

Her photography journey began in 2004 when her husband gifted her a digital camera. What started as photographing everyday life eventually evolved into a passion for portrait photography and helping people see themselves in a new light.

As the wife of a Marine, she moved 12 times and restarted her business four times. That experience shaped her resourceful and innovative approach to photography—proving that creativity doesn't require unlimited resources, just imagination and determination.

✨ Photography Style: Intentional • Crafty • Soulful

Today, she specializes in portraits, branding, and headshots while also mentoring fellow photographers and offering styling services.
When asked what she loves most about photography, her a
nswer was simple yet powerful:

"Showing people how amazing they are. Capturing someone's confidence and allowing them to see it every day is the greatest privilege I can have as an artist."
🐴 Favorite sessions? Anything involving horses or animals!

🎨 When she's not behind the camera, you'll find her creating wardrobe pieces and props, working on watercolor projects, solving puzzles, or curled up with a good book.
One piece of advice she shares with new photographers:

"Figure out what you truly want as a photographer. Lack of intention and focus will cost you time and money. Mastery comes from devoting yourself fully to your craft."
We're excited to have her as part of the Austin PPA community and look forward to seeing her continued creative growth and inspiring work!

About last night...
Austin PPA held its monthly membership meeting, and what an inspiring evening it was!
We hosted an "An evening with the Masters," featuring 7 out of 11 Austin Master Photographers who are all proud members of APPA.
The room as packed and members had the opportunity to connect with these accomplished photographers, ask questions, learn from their experiences, and gain insight into what it takes to achieve a level of excellence recognized by the profession.
One thing became clear throughout the evening: every Master Photographer started exactly where we are today—with a camera, a passion for photography, and a commitment to never stop learning.

David Pinckney & Vicki Leonardo visited the Pflugerville Public Library today to see the photography show on display by the NAPfS. It's only on for one more day and Esmeralda is leading a group on Thursday. It's worth the trip, there are some excellent images on display!
