Last week I made my way to Spain for the incredible eclipse the spanned the country. I found myself in the small town of Peñafiel. While scouting the area, I noticed that from a hillside outside of town, the eclipse would occur directly above Peñafiel Castle!
I set up a few hours beforehand and waited in direct sun during 100 degree heat. But it was so worth it! There were plenty of other photographers there with me, but it wasn't terribly crowded and it was really fun to share in the excitement.
This eclipse was not long, but amazingly beautiful as it occurred just before sunset. It was was quite intense and glowed a bright orange for the 96 seconds it was at totality.
This was my second eclipse that I viewed and photographed. Last time, I found it difficult to enjoy both the event and taking the photos. This time I didn't want to short change either experience so I gave my plan a lot of thought and set up my two cameras on timers with settings that needed little to no adjusting. I set them up a few seconds before totality and letthem do their thing while I admired the short eclipse.
