209,145 names. Each one a life. A story. A legacy worth remembering. 🤎

I had the incredible honor of photographing the grand reopening of the Afro-American Civil War Museum in Washington, DC, alongside the Association of African American Museums (AAAM).

From the words of Dr. Frank Smith and keynote speaker Dr. Vedet Coleman-Robinson of Assocation of AfAm Museums to the sacred moment of prayer before the ribbon cutting, you could feel the weight of history and the love poured into preserving it.

Just across the street stands a Guinness World Record-holding memorial honoring more than 200,000 Black soldiers and officers. But what moves me most isn't the record. It's the lives behind those names.

As a photographer, I'm grateful to document moments like these. As a mother, I can't wait to bring my daughter here, to stand beside her as she learns the stories of those who came before us.

Because preserving our history isn't just about remembering the past. It's about making sure the next generation knows who they come from.

Congratulations to Dr. Frank Smith and the entire museum team on this beautiful new chapter. 🤎

Some moments in history deserve more than to be remembered. They deserve to be witnessed, celebrated, and passed down to the next generation. 🤎

I had the incredible honor of photographing the grand reopening of the African American Civil War Memorial Museum in Washington, DC, alongside the Association of African American Museums (AAAM).

Surrounded by historians, community leaders, and those who have dedicated their lives to preserving our stories, I was reminded once again why this work means so much to me.

As a photographer, I'm grateful to document these moments. But as a mother, I'm even more excited to bring my daughter here one day, to read the names, learn the stories, and understand the legacy of those who fought for freedoms they had yet to experience themselves.

Our history deserves to be preserved, shared, and experienced by every generation.

For Tazmine + Demetrius' engagement session, we envisioned marble columns, iconic staircases, timeless works of art, and a little bit of grandeur, so naturally, we ended up at the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore.

And these two understood the assignment.

Intimate doesn't have to mean simple. 💚

Azaria + Ross invited their closest family and friends to celebrate their marriage over an incredible dining experience at Citron in Baltimore.

Emerald details. Signature cocktails. Disposable cameras. A playlist they created together. An old-fashioned telephone filled with messages from the people they love. And a dinner so good you could hear compliments to the chef around the room. 😂

Before the celebration began, we stole away for portraits by the water and a quiet walk through the trees, giving these two a few moments to simply enjoy being newlyweds. 🤍

Family photos should feel like YOUR family. 🏀🤎

For the Durant family's annual session, that meant meeting us on the basketball court! With sports being such a big part of their lives and Dad being an incredible basketball coach here in Baltimore. It couldn't have been a better fit!

We ran. We laughed. We shot some hoops. And somewhere in between, we documented another year of this beautiful family growing together.

At this point, we don't even feel like their photographers anymore. We feel like family. 🥹

Until next year, Durant family! We can't wait to see how much taller everybody gets. 😂
