Sunset at Schoodic Point in Acadia National Park.
The sun was setting behind Mount Desert Island, with the orange glow spreading across the water and lighting up Egg Rock Lighthouse in the distance. The reflection across the water kept getting stronger as the sun dropped lower.

One of those evenings where it was worth standing around for a while and watching the light change.

Sunrise over Bar Harbor
While most people head straight to the mountains of Acadia for the sunsets, there’s a different kind of beauty in watching the day begin right on the waterfront. As the sky turns yellow and orange on the horizon behind the Porcupine Islands, the lobster fleet wakes up and pushes out toward that glow, starting their workday as the rest of the town slowly comes alive.

After a long day of vacationing and shooting, I was ready to call it quits. At the last minute we decided to take one more drive through Acadia National Park along Park Loop Road. As we went deeper, the sky kept clearing and the traffic dropped to almost nothing.

We pulled into a small parking lot, got out of the car, and looked up. The amount of stars overhead was immediately overwhelming.

It wasn’t too long before the camera, tripod, and headlamps were out, and we were shooting away in the dark — excitement building with every look at the preview screen.

A hummingbird moth feeding on lantana at the Bridge of Flowers. I’d never seen one before, so the moment caught me off guard — hovering like a tiny hummingbird and moving fast. I don’t shoot many insects or macro photography, but when I get the chance, it’s always worth slowing down for a shot.
