I've had the privilege of photographing Jane Stevens of Four Elements for more than a few years now.

Celebrating the remarkable and poetic Shawndell Marks today! This shoot was a senior session from last year. 🤩

When I asked Shawndell what her biggest accomplishments are she said this: 🥰

"One of the things I am most proud of in my life is the relationship I’ve built with my children post-divorce. There were moments when it all felt overwhelming — trying to hold everything together while navigating the emotions, pain, and quiet judgments that so often fall on women, especially in a small town. I made mistakes and didn’t always have the right words or all the answers, but I showed up for my kids with as much love and honesty as I could. Over time, those small consistent efforts helped to build a different but still strong sense of family. We now have new traditions. I hope they feel they can trust me to support them as they grow into who they’re meant to be. It’s a beautiful journey to witness.

What I feel most proud of now is knowing that a painful but honest decision ultimately created space for all of us to grow. I hope my children see that even difficult choices can lead to peace, strength, and a more genuine life, and that they too can trust themselves enough to choose what is true for them. "
