1st Harvest of the Season… Garlic Scapes … Garlic Scapes are treated like a delicacy around these parts! They are the flower bud of the garlic plant (hard neck varieties that is these particular ones are elephant garlic scapes ) and have a mellow garlic flavor. They are snipped off in early spring to encourage the garlic plant to use its energy to grow larger bulbs. You can substitute garlic scapes for garlic cloves in any recipe and the best part is….no peeling required! Can’t beat that! we dehydrate them … both the flower and stalk to make compound garlic butter , yogurt veggie dips , as a spice in meat rubs or to use in a soup base … the dehydrated garlic scapes can be stored for years … great for long winters!

I first saw them live when I was 16 ...
Pulled the trigger on 7th row stage right last night ..

Hope to see them again for my 80th Birthday...

Favorite Live Shows ... 42 years ago... Echo & Bunnymen - Peppermint Lounge, New York, USA, 24th August 1982. I was 18 and at the time, I living on the top floor suite of the Chelsea Hotel ... It was the total polar antithesis of growing up on the farm in the rural south.. turning into a a free spirited , urban wild child... . live music left an indelible imprint that helped shape my future self and has greatly influenced my art for almost five decades ... Next week the Bunnymen are in Boston I I will be seeing them live for the umpteenth time... They are ageless and have not missed a beat ... This music therapy helps me feel the same thing ...
