Matt Hennesy’s Radio Show at Dink's Pit BBQ with Evan Fahrbach featured Coach Robert Daniels and junior quarterback #14, Michael Kent.
Coach Robert Daniels has been coaching football for 15 years, including six years at the college level and nine years at the high school level. He brings experience, knowledge, and a genuine passion for the game to our Bruin football program.
But for Coach Daniels, coaching is about much more than football.
His goal is to help young players become the very best versions of themselves, on the field, in the classroom, at home, and in life. He believes in accountability and love, two principles he uses to challenge his players, encourage them, and help them reach their full potential.
Football may be the classroom, but the lessons are much bigger than the game.
When Coach Daniels isn’t coaching, he enjoys spending time with his family. He and his wife, Ashley Daniels, are happily married and value their time together.
We’re proud to have Coach Daniels leading our defense and, even more importantly, helping shape the young men and the young lady who wear the Bruin uniform.
Coach Daniels, thank you for investing not only in our players, but in the men and young lady they are becoming.
Coach H. mentions that Michael started as the Bruin QB midway through his freshman year, “And I think that experience has served him well.”
He’s been around the lights, the pre-game hype, the noise in the stands, the expectation. He doesn’t seem to get caught up in any of it. The moment the bullets start flying around him, Michael knows how to block out the noise, stay focused, and concentrate on what’s happening right in front of him, beside him, and behind him.
On a personal note, I started taking photos of Michael FIVE years ago.
And ALL of those photos are still right there on GammysBartlesvillePics.
Year. By. Year.
I’ve had the privilege of watching him grow, not just as a football player, but as a young man.
Michael is a born leader, both on and off the field. When Evan asked about one of Michael’s favorite things to do when he’s not playing football, the answer was pretty simple:
SHOP.
Especially for shoes.
Yep. Football. Leadership. Quarterback.
And apparently…shoes.
You can hear/watch the entire interview on KWON 1400, KRIG 104.9, KYFM 100.1, KPGM 1500
And if you’re wondering about that first picture…
IYKYK.
If you don’t know, you’ll just have to listen to last evening’s broadcast. Coach H. explains it.

Tomorrow night, 09/04, our Bruins hit the road and head to Lantow Field in Claremore.
7:00 PM.
The Student Council theme is CAMO. So let’s see if we can outnumber the Zebras in the stands! Everyone wear CAMO. All of us. They may not be able to see us coming…They may not even know we’re there…Until the roar from the Bruin side of the stands lets them know exactly how many of us showed up. Let’s fill those stands, Bruin Nation!
CAMO UP. SHOW UP.
