A few months ago, I attended a Wildflower workshop in TX in pursuit of photographing bluebonnets. Unfortunately, they were not as plentiful as expected. However, we managed to find a few fields, and I couldn't resist playing around with some intentional camera movement. I call this one "Breezy Bluebonnet".

I'm so excited to see one of my photos on Elmwood Cemetery's website for the calendar competition-month of August. Check it out:

Earlier this year, we announced on social media a photography contest. The contest rules were published on our website. Out of dozens of entries, 13 winners were chosen. Their photos are published in Elmwood Cemetery’s first annual calendar (12 months plus a cover). We have limited quantities avai...

One of my favorite things to do when taking photos in nature is to try to find things that might not normally get noticed by others. Sometimes there are just the tiniest, cutest things in nature like a mushroom the size of a pinhead (thanks to a 5x magnification lens I rented), or a beautiful color against a mundane background. I apparently really like finding various kinds of mushrooms given the number of photos I take. But have you ever thought about the tiny creatures that inhabit them? It's just so cool. I do actually take photos of people too, so if you need headshots, portraits, etc. give me shout.

Do you like surprises? I love them. Recently, I was asked to secretly photograph a marriage proposal. Lots of thoughts went through my mind, like "What if something goes terribly wrong and I miss the important shots?" I agreed to do it in spite of my trepidation. I'm so glad I did. It was one of the best surprises to be a part of. They were the cutest couple and boy was she surprised! I thought everything turned out well and I was glad I stepped out of my comfort zone.

I just love how happy sunflowers make me! Watching them emerge from the tiny bud, and then blooming so brightly and proud. When you get up really close, you can see all the tiny creatures that live on them. As they die, they become food for the birds. So many facets... Can you find the teeny worm on one of the photos?
