today’s post will be a little different: let’s talk about how important memories are in life and in this job.
my phone popped up with some memories this morning, pictures of a client who i can so easily say is a favorite. like a once in a lifetime kind of client. so i thought i’d share some beautiful memories of an even more beautiful person.
Allyce Trapp Alexander
i was over the moon when Allyce reached out while planning her wedding just a few short years ago - not just because i always love working with hometown friends, but because she was someone who could’ve picked anyone in this galaxy to photograph this milestone, yet she chose me. i’ve known her since i was a kid, we even grew up on the same street. we went to high school together, college together. she was a dream client to book.
everything goes according to plan, the wedding was a smash, the party was unforgettable, and i got to witness this friend marry the man of her dreams, Wilson.
all too quickly, life can change, and it did. but Allyce remained her truly graceful self, even through the toughest times. and always had the same smile. i’m grateful to be among those who were able to witness it.
its pictures like these that help preserve the memory of loved ones. like Allyce.
Allyce’s family has told me on numerous occasions, during the good days, the hardest times, and after their loss, how important these photos of her were. i was blessed to be able to visit Allyce in the hospital near the end, and even she was going on about them still. it was just a good thing to think about good things.
our pictures are little snapshots of things we wish to remember. you probably have some tens of thousands of photos on your phones, oof I know i do. do you catch yourself scrolling through them at bedtime, or on long flights, at the red light? that’s me alllll the way.
holidays are times we all love being together, but they’re also times we all probably take for granted. while you’re with your families this christmas, go ahead and take those pictures of those who make you smile and the ones that make you laugh.
i can promise you, you won’t regret having that memory.
