I went down to New Orleans to meet up with some street photography guys recently.

There wasn’t a lot of foot traffic in the Quarter, due to the heat, but I stumbled into the French Market where there was a throng of shoppers.

Not sure if any of these are particularly noteworthy but it forced me to get out of my comfort zone a bit and get closer to people and look for small moments than I normally always do.

Day 2 in Provence: St. Remy
A short walk to St. Paul de Mausole. An 11th century monastery turned asylum where Vincent Van Gogh lived for a year in 1889. Notable for where he painted his most famous Starry Night.
I just wrapped up reading his lengthy biography today.

It’s also right across the street from a big ancient Roman settlement. Coming next.

Rome? Heaven? No. It’s Arles.
Did you know much of Provence used to be part of Ancient Rome?
Don’t adjust your screen. That’s how blue the sky was.

Day 1 of Provence: first stop is Avignon.
Avignon feels like the gateway to Provence. It’s known as the City of Popes referring to the 70 year period in the 14th century when it hosted the papacy and the 7 successive French popes. It features a large Gothic palace and medieval fortress that surrounds the city - the largest in Europe. Hollie bought a bunch of soap here.

Day 6 in Paris: the last day.
Versailles
Eiffel Tower - You saw those photos earlier (if not go back) that were taken same day.
Stay tuned for Provence.

Some night shots from Day 5 in Paris. This was one of the only times I went out solo and made some photos.
These were all taken just within a block or two from where we stayed in St. Germain-Des-Pres.

I could do another vertical set of these as well.

I went out solo and took some night shots but will do a separate post.

Hollie is a big fan of Phantom of the Opera and when I found out this was where the story was inspired I knew I had to book it. It was her surprise on the trip.

I like to watch the planes streak across the sky. My 4 year old likes to point them out. Sometimes we wonder where they’re off too. Somewhere fun usually.
