Why Landlocked Luxury made me a better photographer…

It put me in the room with some of the best in the Midwest. Learning from those with decades of experience and a honed in artistic vision was nothing short of inspiring and educational.

It elevated my entire vision of what a wedding from concept to ex*****on could be. There is unlimited creative potential on a wedding day and my role as a photographer in bringing a planners vision to life is an honor and joy.

Cheers to 2025!! It might've been my favorite year of my career so far. It was a year of preparation, connection, and clarity in who I am as an artist. This year was rich in many ways, but I am most thankful for the connections that grew deeper this past year.

To my couples, thank you. You were my joy this year. Thank you for entrusting your moments to me. I am honored to know you and your families and I had the time of my life serving you this year.

As an artist, some of my highlights include the countless hours spent in the hospitality of for industry events, great conversations shared over many of chef Alex's incomparable meals, hours in mentorship with and time spend learning from .fourniers, all my hours spent second shooting with + my work bestie , quality time with my favorite second shooters .photo + , and time up north at A Seat At The Table by .

Vendors are the architects of unforgettable wedding experiences and each one carries a unique role.

As a photographer, I come into a wedding day having studied the light, the venue, and the timeline so that when I walk in I can greet you with calm and excitement (yes they co-exist, haha).

A planner has already thoughtfully executed your design, tailored your guest experience, and intentionally crafted your timeline with the vendor team's help. Your parents and bridesmaids simply get to enjoy you and celebrate the day. I get to observe the relationships and quietly photograph them, intervening as moments inspire to create artful images. I wouldn't have this luxury, to create art and immerse myself in your wedding day story, if each vendor didn't play their part.

Having an experienced, adaptable, and collaborate team on wedding day makes such the difference, and allows each of your vendors to lean into their craft and bring their creative energy and talents to the forefront. It's what makes the art and magic in wedding photographs.

Much of this day second shot for lives on in my mind. It started the sweetest bride making her family scrambled eggs that her chickens had laid, getting ready in her childhood home, and and emotional first look with her dad. It went on to a faith filled ceremony, side glances at her while they exited the church surrounded by the most enthusiastic friends and family and a getaway car kiss. At dinner each guest found a handwritten (and incredibly thoughtful note) from the bride and groom while the pianist played in the background. The dancing went on late into the night with an eccentric live band fueled by late night snacks and many espresso martinis.

It's fall but mentally I'm here.

Spring at @. Dining al fresco. Lunch on the front lawn. Watching the delicate tassels of the umbrella blow in the wind. The sweet smell of springtime. The soft pink and white blooms against a faint blue sky.

It's Monday and I'm here to say that the groom deserves to look good in his portraits.

Artist note: I loved using the light around me to create these portraits. It happened to be moody light in this studio which, paired with the posing, created a masculine groom portrait. The way as artists we combine light, posing, and composition, as seen in frame one and two, change the feeling of an image dramatically, and I love that.

Tender ceremony moments with Nick & Mady, whose connection to both of their families was deep and saturated in love. Many tears of joy were shed throughout the day by all (including and especially me, haha).

After the wedding Mady texted me full of kind words and a few days later I received a text from Nick, which is so rare coming from a groom but is simply a testament to how kind and caring these two are...

"...I personally just wanted to say a massive thank you for the incredible work you did for us in capturing what will be a day Mads and I remember for the rest of our lives.

You will always hold a special place in our hearts for being the individual who captured these moments we can always look back on.

Thank you so much 🙏🏻"
