Good Morning
I'm excited to share with you this stunning male Black-backed Woodpecker. 🌳 Did you know that these birds are closely related to the American three-toed woodpecker? They share a distinct characteristic - they both have only three toes rather than four! πŸ€” I'm absolutely fascinated by the vibrant yellow crown patch on their heads, it's such a striking feature. 🌟 These woodpeckers are perfectly adapted to thrive in charred, burnt forests, where they feed on bark beetles that inhabit the trees. 🐜 What's even more interesting is that being a three-toed woodpecker allows them to lean farther back and deliver a harder blow to the tree, making it easier for them to extract their food. I'm thrilled to share with you this absolutely adorable looking Great Gray Owlet, with its irresistible, loving bright eyes that seem to sparkle with curiosity. You can almost see the wheels turning in its little head as it just landed on the ground, taking in its surroundings with wide-eyed wonder. I really love the rich green and golden late afternoon light behind it, which adds a warm, cozy glow to the entire scene. β€οΈπŸ¦‰πŸ₯°πŸ˜The more I look at it, the more I'm struck by the intricate details of its facial features - the tiny beak, the delicate eyebrows, the soft, downy feathers around its eyes. It's a true marvel of nature, and I feel so lucky to have been able to capture this moment. πŸ™πŸ¦‰πŸ˜˜

Fun Facts: when mom brings food to her chicks , I noticed she makes a sweet nurturing soft call, before she delivers the food. I did some research and they say she does this to reassure and comfort her babies, that she is nearby with food or to tell them they are safe. more on this at a later time πŸ˜πŸ¦‰πŸ₯°

I'm thrilled to share with you this stunning moment of a πŸ¦‰πŸ˜πŸ˜Short-Eared Owl coming in to land with its impressive wings arched up and those adorable legs hanging down, its piercing yellow eyes scanning the surroundings. It's a truly breathtaking sight to behold! 😍 And have you noticed how it almost looks majestic here, fierce even, despite blending seamlessly into the same-colored habitat background? It's a true master of camouflage, a skill that's crucial for its survival in the wild. The way it can merge with its surroundings, becoming almost invisible, is a remarkable feat that never ceases to amaze me. I'm thrilled to share with you an up close and personal encounter with a majestic Great Gray Owlet during the golden hour. all those warm colors tones on its beautiful face . This little bundle of fluff is an absolute beauty, don't you agree 😍 Those stunning eyes are simply mesmerizing, and I just can't get enough of them! 😍 I've included some fascinating fun facts about their third eyelid below, so be sure to check them out. Did you know that this remarkable feature helps to keep their eyes clean and protected? πŸ€” It's just one of the many amazing adaptations that make these owlets so unique and special. πŸ’• So, take a moment to appreciate the intricate details of this incredible owl πŸ¦‰πŸ₯°

Fun Facts Here I got lucky to capture their 3rd eyelid halfway covering the eyes, this is called Nictitating Membrane, sweeps across horizontally , it acts like a pair of safety googles, shielding the eyes from dust, wind and sharp claws while still allowing the owl to see .
