We call Eastern North Carolina home, but will travel for destination shoots around the world. Five years ago, I started photographing the Taylor family. Since then, I’ve had the joy of watching their family grow - new additions, babies becoming little kids, and so many memories in between.

This time, we got to celebrate something pretty special: Dan’s 80th birthday! 🎉

What better way to celebrate than out on the water with family and friends aboard Lookout Cruises in Beaufort! Good weather, beautiful Crystal Coast scenery, and a boat full of people just doing life together.

I’ve photographed a lot of milestones over the years, but there’s something especially meaningful about getting to document a family again and again as the years pass. Thank you Taylor family!

We had ridiculously strong winds, I think we saw the sun for like four seconds, it was spitting rain almost the entire time…and we had absolutely no interest in letting any of these ruin the evening with the Robinette family!

Also, Sean was getting ready to head off for the Coast Guard this summer, so getting everyone together for some photos on Front Street in Beaufort, NC was definitely worth dealing with a little weather 💨🌧️

And honestly, I think the crazy conditions made it even more fun. A lot of laughing, a little chaos (maybe a lot), and a family that clearly knows how to enjoy being together.

Love sessions like these ❣️

I love when a couple just makes you smile when you’re around them — Sarah & Matthew is definitely that couple. ❤️

Their engagement session at Ward Shore Park in Swansboro was pretty much picture-perfect from start to finish - down on one knee, laughs, tears, acrobatics, a light breeze, a few wispy clouds, sunset, a streetlamp...cue the Canada geese.

I love photographing proposals and engagements, and it’s even better knowing I’ll get to be there for the next part of their story. Can’t wait for their November wedding!

Some proposals are easy - one great location, one nervous guy, one surprised girl, and one big diamond.

And some proposals are more involved than invading a small country. This one involved two boats, a sandbar, six friends, some crazy coordination, a 45-minute window between rain showers, and a whole lot of hoping everything went according to plan. 😂

And it was picture perfect when Zeb got down on one knee on the sandbar in Hoop Pole Creek and asked Gracyn to marry him 💍

And it worked like a finely tuned covert operation that would have impressed a Seal team.

A pretty epic way to say yes. 🤍

Simple and splendid 🤍

Taylor & Zach’s June wedding was one of those days that didn’t need to be complicated to be beautiful. Just the two of them, a gorgeous waterfront setting, a beautiful June evening, and a whole lot of happiness.

Quiet moments together overlooking the marsh…loud moments together dancing under the lights…and family and friends everything celebrating two of their favorite people on the planet.

There’s something extra sweet about a family with three little ones all under 5 🩷💙

Such a fun time with the Sorrell family during their July beach session. These kiddos kept us on our toes, but that’s exactly what makes family sessions like this so much fun. A little running, a little exploring, lots of smiles, and plenty of those in-between moments that you can’t really plan for.

So thankful I got to spend an evening with this sweet family on the Crystal Coast! 🌊☀️

The Berry family showed up ready for a lazy, sunny day at the beach - and the Crystal Coast decided adventure was more in order! 😅 Rain was just over the sound headed our way, the wind was crazy strong, and the waves were doing their very best to steal the show…but this crew? They just laughed and played and had an absolute blast!

And honestly, those are some of my favorite sessions - the ones that aren’t perfectly calm or predictable, but are full of sand and water and mess and fun…and memories your family will actually remember making. 🌊🩵

Having done this for a long time, I can tell in the first three minutes whether a family session is going to have all of the elements that make for a fantastic session…with the Stoffel family I could tell in one minute ❤️

What a wonderful time on the Crystal Coast - big smiles, a perfect beach evening, a little chaos, and one very happy dog who clearly understood the assignment. 😂🐾

No one was worried about looking perfect. Everyone was just having fun together. And honestly, those are the photographs I love most.

A gorgeous sunset, warm sand, the ocean in the background, and a family making memories together on the Crystal Coast. Doesn’t get much better than that.

💍 She said yes... and then they ran straight into the ocean. 🌊

Alex surprised Raven with a proposal, and we got to capture their engagement photos - barefoot in the surf, laughing until their faces hurt, and soaking up every second of their newly engaged chapter together.

These are the moments we live for at Beaufort Photography Co...memories that feel as good years from now as they do today.
