Over the last year I’ve spent a lot of weekends behind my camera doing sessions and weddings, and I’m incredibly thankful for every person who has supported my photography business. But lately I’ve realized something has to change for me personally.

This summer is my daughter’s last summer before kindergarten, and I don’t get that time back. I left the 8-4 engineering life because I wanted to actually be present for my kids, not constantly working or glued to my phone between two businesses. Between construction during the week and photography on the weekends, I’ve found myself physically and mentally exhausted. I’ve even noticed it affecting my mental health, and that’s something I can’t ignore anymore.

My children will always come before my camera.

I’m not quitting photography, and I still have weddings booked that I’m so excited for, but moving forward I’ll be limiting weekend sessions and focusing more on weekday bookings. I need time to rest, enjoy my family, and actually experience the summer with my kids instead of watching it pass by while working every weekend.
