A New Beginning

These are the first three photographs I created with my new 6×17 panoramic film camera.

Getting to this point wasn’t easy. I spent countless hours studying photography, learning how to truly read light, understand dynamic range, and find the right equipment. The biggest challenge wasn’t the camera—it was training my eye to see the light from the brightest highlight to the deepest shadow.

Studying the work of Ansel Adams helped me understand that photography begins long before the shutter is pressed. That knowledge completely changed the way I approach my work.

Many people may look at these images and assume they were created digitally. They were not.

Each photograph was captured on 120 film using a 6×17 panoramic camera. Every exposure is unique. There is no “undo,” no deleting, and no taking hundreds of frames. Every photograph is carefully planned before the shutter is released.

Because these are the first photographs of this new chapter in my journey, each image will be offered as a one-of-one piece.

The collector will receive:

* A museum-quality fine art print.
* The original film negative used to create the photograph.
* A signed certificate of authenticity.

Once the original negative is transferred to its new owner, that photograph will never be printed again. The collector becomes the sole owner of the original image, making it a truly one-of-a-kind work of art.

These photographs may be my earliest work with this camera, but they represent something much bigger than that. They mark the beginning of a new journey, and that alone makes them incredibly meaningful to me.

For the longest time, I wanted to share photographs from some of the beautiful places in our neighboring counties. But the name Just Beautiful Beaver County always kept calling me back… and that’s how Beyond Beaver County was born.

From now on, I’ll be sharing some of my favorite local destinations that are just a short drive away and absolutely worth exploring.

I’m starting with one of Western Pennsylvania’s true gems—McConnells Mill State Park in Lawrence County. With its towering boulders, cascading waterfalls, and peaceful forest, it’s a place every nature lover should experience at least once.

I hope you enjoy this image as much as I enjoyed creating it. ❤️
