There’s something I’ve been thinking about lately that I wanted to share — especially for the women out there chasing something they love. 💛
I have a client who has come back to me several times over the years. Each time she books, she negotiates my price… and each time, I budge a little.
Not because I don’t value my work.
Not because I’m desperate for the money.
I budge because I don’t know her story.
I don’t know what an extra $10 might mean to someone. I don’t know what they’re juggling behind the scenes, what they’ve sacrificed, or what that photo session might represent for their family. So sometimes I say yes.
And at the end of the day, I still get to do what I love.
For every negotiation, there are 20 moments that remind me why I do this. Messages from couples telling me they cried when they saw their gallery for the first time. Parents who say, “I can’t believe how much my babies have grown.” Families who tell me that one photograph became the picture used at a loved one’s funeral.
Those moments will always outweigh the person asking for a discount.
Because photography isn’t just pictures. It’s memories. It’s legacy. It’s the moments we don’t realize are priceless until years later.
There have been many times over the past 15 years where I wanted to give up. Times where I stressed about making ends meet. Times where the business side felt heavier than the passion.
But this work is part of who I am.
I’m not just a photographer.
I’m your family photographer. The one who captures the happy moments, the milestones, and the images you’ll hold onto forever.
So to the women out there building something you love — don’t give up. Don’t let money, fear, or someone else’s opinion stop you from doing what makes your heart come alive.
The right moments, the right people, and the right purpose will always make it worth it. ✨
Happy (sorry I’m late posting)
I do what I do, for her ⬇️
