These are from my other bestie's place. This is her "lower slough" next to the Nueces River. This area has been dry since around 2021, look at it now. The upper slough is not running anymore, but the lower slough is full from the river being so high. We were not able to get to this area for almost 2 weeks, it was high!! The birdies love it though!! 🥰

Holá folks, hope you are all well today!!! I can't wait until it starts cooling off, this year has been relentlessly warm 🥵 and it started in March, seems like. Well, now, since the college decided a 2027 Calendar would not be published this year, I had already taken a few photos for submissions, and since they won't be used thought you'd enjoy them here. This is the first year in over 40 years that I know of that there will not be a calendar, I could be wrong though. Anyways., this little guy decided he was gonna challenge me. He was stomping his left hoof at me and was there for about 3 minutes before the rest of the gang saw me. He was the first to move when my bestie came from behind me. It was cool seeing them, I love these guys "from a distance". They are the coolest critters to me anyways. The rabbit did a great run across the pasture and the Purple Martin house was what I've always wanted, altho, I shoulda gotten it when the insides were real "material" and not cardboard, they still charge you like it was all solid inside. It's pretty, not sure how long it will last, especially because of the insides being boards, but maybe by then I'll get a real wooden one. Enjoy nature my friends, take care of it cause they help make our world exist!!! 🥰💝 BTW calendars are very expensive to make, maybe I'll do some next year!! 🥰

Best I could do despite the cloudy conditions on 08/27/26 in South Texas. The eclipse started at around 10pm or so, it was showing up during one moment of clear skies. Went inside to get my gear and guess what??? Clouds!!! Ugh!! Sat in my back yard till after midnight and got a couple of "decent" shots. The first was at at the height of the full eclipse and the second at around midnight. Clouds can really make for interesting captures!! :) Maybe next years will be better. Enjoy my friends and family!! 🥰😂

Tried one more time last night, was out until 1245am, no detectable meteors, did see a couple away from the camera, but worked on learning to "stack" photos, this wasn't too bad. Made from 5 images. Did get the new 8mm lens, but it was not compatible to my camera even tho my research showed it was. Sending it back and will eventually get the canon model. This was made at: 16mm; f2.8; ISO 3200; Manual Mode at Pattern metering if anyone wants to try. Just play with your ISO, makes it a great learning experience. BTW, made at AWB too. :)

I didn't stay out long enough to "see" the real show that started after 2am, but I got at least one good meteor come through one of my photos. I'd been up since about 330am and I was a little tired by 1115pm, so I cut my losses and found this was not so bad. ☺ 🥰

I'm learning how to "stack" photos in Photoshop. You are never to old to learn something new. I'd heard about this process before, but no one had ever encouraged me to use it, SOOOOO I encouraged myself after hearing another friend of mine used it with his astrophotography work!!! Altho he uses tons more photos. LOL 😅 This was from 08/12/26 during the Perseid Meteor Shower at the G4 Ranch in Normanna, I really had never seen the "total" Milky Way until that evening (and so clearly), I'd always had to deal with location, cloud cover, haze or light pollution. This night was incredible. Hope you enjoy it, it is only a portion of the Milky Way, and I have some photos with meteors going thru them but they were faint, I will post later. Have an amazing weekend!! Enjoy nature as you go along!! 🥰💝 ps: Did order an 8mm lens to use later for a total look, but we will see how that works. 😅

KIII Channel 3 News Michael Gibson and Preston West came out to my bestie's ranch in Dinero today and did a segment on the Nueces River rising along her property. It was amazing to see the river at this level. Still hadn't come over the bank accept at the main inlet along the Bottom Slough, but it was getting there. We drove into the Bottom Slough but had to turn around due to the water levels rising. We came up the "high road" that runs parallel to the slough, but that also went under water. It was cool to see. Been too long. We will see if it goes over bank tomorrow at the Fishing Hole. Enjoy the photos. It was something else to see the river running so fast. 😮😃😍

07/22/26 Drove out to Tilden to see the flooding. I know many people have been sharing photos, videos and drone footage. But this is really astonishing to see. We went on 06/20/26; 07/18/26 and the final 07/22/26, you can see the difference in the amount of water that flowed down from up north, from the photos of 06/20 and 07/18 to 07/22/26. Hoping the photos help you to see how hard it has hit these areas. s
