Extended family sessions are basically my version of a scavenger hunt.

I create a list of must-have family groupings before your session. I do this for every extended family session, so you're never starting from scratch. And you know your girl LOVES a list. 🙌

My bonus challenge: finding small moments hidden inside the bigger picture. This is my favorite thing, always. With extended families, there are so many more relationships and different connections.

An older cousin making goofy faces behind me to get the baby to smile, +2pts. Grandparents sneaking a glance at each other, +2pts. You get it.

So, plenty of photographers shy away from extended families, but I love the controlled chaos of it all.

We all love a good package delivery after we’ve done some online shopping. I mean, I know I do! But it's safe to say that Aaron loved them more.

Because it wasn’t the packages he was growing to love, but the neighbor in the apartment over who would hold onto those deliveries when Aaron was out of town.

Sarah and Aaron met at work, where Sarah was training Aaron as he started his new position. Both were nurses at the Mayo Clinic (yes, that one), and at the time, they were each dating someone else, keeping their interactions strictly friendly.

When Aaron was looking for a place, Sarah suggested her apartment complex. Aaron ended up moving into an apartment next door to her.

However, when he decided to transition to a traveling nurse position, he knew he’d be home way less. Sarah would help him out by sending a quick text when he had packages piling up outside his door. Even gathering them up for him to pick up when he got home.

So they stayed in touch that way. Eventually, picking up packages became grabbing a coffee, and then it became more. Now Aaron and Sarah are planning their October wedding.

Aaron jokes that maybe Sarah knew what she was doing when she recommended her apartment complex to him. I have to wonder if Aaron was doing a little extra online shopping during his work trips. Either way, it all worked out to bring them together.

Zoe surprised her girlfriend, Elysia, with a photo session to celebrate their 3rd anniversary (in November).

That November session became a May session due to the crazy weather, illnesses, holidays, and a broken leg.

It was well worth the wait, and we had absolutely perfect weather to celebrate 3 [and a half] years of Zoe and Elysia. 🥰 🥂
