If there is anything positive to come out of the dystopian world that we are living in -- one that is spinning faster, plagiarizing artists, and destroying the planet -- I suppose that it is an unspoken permission slip to myself, to slow down with more determination than ever.

More stubbornness than ever.

To infuse my art with grain and blur and softness. To step away from perfectionism, and fall head over heels in love with the imperfect process of being human.

Sneak peek of a magical wedding captured this weekend in Winthrop, Washington!

Congrats to Kaileh and Taylor... what a beautiful celebration!

Lead shooting with Lemon Wing. 🥰

So excited to go through all of the magick! I had a lot of fun playing with artistic blur, flowers in the foreground, and slow shutter flash.

The result? Pure magick.

(2/2) Reading this book, I’ve been drawing my own map back to my humanity.

Despite intentional practices around technology use, I have carried a feeling of emptiness for years. And as I dug into Arthur Brooks' words, I finally began to understand why.

Meaning is made up of a simple equation.

Coherence + Purpose + Significance.

With an ah-ha moment, I realized that though I have always carried a strong knowing of what my purpose is, and I have belief systems in place to trust the process of life… the place my life has lacked is in Significance.

I’ve had a yearning to be a pillar of the community, a trusted resource to make the world a better place. To bring more beauty and love into a broken world.

And for whatever reason, I haven’t found a place where that dream has found roots in reality.

I don’t know where that takes me, but I know that when you are in the wrong environment, you will spend all your energy trying to survive instead of living your purpose. (Thank you to my dear friend Griffin Coombs for that nugget of Human Design wisdom.)

And if that’s the case, and you’re still reading along… I invite you to take an energetic inventory of your life.

Does life feel hard, or does it carry ease?

If the former is true… well, maybe it’s time to look at your meaning map.

Because I truly believe that if we are in the right place, life does not have to be something that feels hard. If we are in the right place, things will fall into place with a little more ease.

This week, I wove together the softness of an autumn-soaked permission slip from one of my favourite Substack writers, Beth Kempton - Do What You Love, and my anger at the direction the world is going.

Which resulted in giving myself permission to be angry at the state of the world, which has impacted both the state of my life and the state of some challenges I'm experiencing with my body right now.

Empowerment begins by declaring, "actually, I'm not okay with any of this."

How are you feeling? Are you ready to take back what it means to be a human? I know I am...

I've included a Revolution Menu, so that you can find some actionable items to apply to your life. Because when everything feels like it is happening "to" us without our control, the only thing we can do is change the actions we take in our daily lives.

I hope that will be enough. And I'd love to hear what I might be missing. What daily practices are you prioritizing to keep your humanity?

and a few tips to start your own revolution to reclaim your brain (and your life)

(1/2) A few weeks ago, my grandma sent me the book by Arthur Brooks, The Meaning of Your Life (Finding Purpose in an Age of Emptiness).

I’ve been reading and digesting and processing, thinking about the meaning of my life. And how for so many of us, there is an unspoken emptiness in our lives.

That emptiness has become louder over the last few years. Louder as I have ticked the boxes of things that others have labeled as what matters.

Despite that, I have continued to preach that I care more about who you are BE-ing, not what you are DO-ing. While I’ve said that it’s an easy stance to take that is only validated more strongly in a community where everyone is doing the same “cool” things, it is truthfully a hard stance to hold. When the world is dead-set on moving in one direction, and you are swimming in the other, it takes its toll on you. There have been countless times I have questioned my sanity, my standards, and my core values.

But reading this book, I feel so much of it validated. The world is getting sick, and people are losing their way. I have judged myself before for obsessing over purpose and meaning, and now with this book in hand, I see this as some of the most important work that we need right now.

We need to find our way back to ourselves and our humanity.

We need more human connection, not more AI.

We need funding in arts, not tech.

We need eye contact, not screens.

I don’t know about you, but I’m burnt out by it. I have a soul-deep fatigue, sprinkled with anger and disappointment.

This isn’t the world I signed up for.

Part 2 coming soon...

“So, how do you like to spend your time alone with yourself?”

I’ve been thinking a lot about what makes me “me” lately. What are the perks of Savannah? When we are with ourselves all the time, it’s easy to take ourselves for granted.

Well, a lot of people can’t spend time alone with themselves. They scroll through screens or wait to be invited. They distract themselves or stimulate or numb themselves.

When I get down on myself… is that the “golden standard” that I’m comparing myself to?

Even if I have unmet goals right now… Being here in this life as "me" seems pretty okay. Camping alone. Making my art. Growing. Learning. Being.

Ticking the boxes of “when I am most me.”

Where do you go to find peace?

A new reflective essay published at Reclaiming the Wild Woman.

"Within the world of exhausting digital communications, sometimes the gem of a conversation pops up. A stimulating dialogue lands in your inbox, and it makes you pause to think. A question that asks more of you.

There are the simpler questions that still suggest the possibility of depth. A book recommendation, for example. Book preferences can speak volumes about someone. But if you are a book person, your answer is probably somewhat automatic. So there is the potential of depth, but the question itself is a simple, linear one.

I like the questions that tug equally at my brain and on my heart — inviting me to redefine who I am to the world. Questions that make me begin to write an essay (hello, that’s why I’m here with you!).

Today’s question:

What’s your favourite place of peace?

Well, I don’t feel peace anywhere if I don’t feel peace within myself."

Continued over on Substack. ♥️

As much as I dislike screens and the over-saturation of digital communication through them, there are certain online containers in which I enjoy connecting with people — because despite being through a screen, it is through writing.

It’s finally out into the world!

Empowerment is a bike pump. I began writing this personal essay almost two years ago. First as a way of healing post-break up. But second, over time, I felt like a different kind of writing and art was missing from the mountain biking community.

No, it isn’t about bike reviews. No, it isn’t about pro riders. No, trying to sell you something isn’t at the core. But don’t we have enough of that? I think there is value in a softer female perspective, one that uses mountain biking as a tool for connection, self expression, and art… but isn’t necessarily at the core of the topic.

Even if audiences are quiet, I’m going to keep pushing my agenda. Because I believe that the world needs more of this… even if the world doesn’t know it yet.

Now booking for the 2026 summer and autumn seasons. ✨
We are in service to love.

Together with Becky Koplowitz, we meet with you to celebrate love at all stages of your life. 🌸

Maybe you want to heal heartache and walk your way back to self love and a feeling of self worth. We will walk your way with you, and turn your body into beautiful art.

Maybe this is simply about celebrating everything you already love about yourself, and capturing that in nature, so you can hang yourself on your wall.

Maybe you want to call in the love of your dreams by celebrating where you’re at, and the work you’ve done to arrive here.

Maybe this is about ritual. Maybe it’s about art. Maybe it’s about healing.

Whatever it is, it comes back to love. Love is the root, and we are ready to nourish those seeds with you. 🌸

Sophrosyne Studios is launching, and we are filling the calendar with self-love empowerment shoots, adventure elopements, small weddings, engagements, maternity, and bff sisterhood sessions.

Turning your love into art, from Bellingham and beyond… through the Pacific Northwest.

Thank you to all the vulnerably courageous women who have gotten naked in the nature with me. 🌸 And for those yet to come, I’m excited to meet you. 🌷
