A customer recently brought in a fork with a significant burr on the upper bushing. Not long ago, the only solution would have been complete bushing replacement (which we’re fully equipped to perform in-house).

Instead, we were able to restore and optimize the fork using our USA burnishing system.

The process not only removes burrs and high spots, but allows us to precisely size the bushings to an ideal low-friction clearance. With four progressively sized burnishing mandrels available, we can fine-tune each fork to achieve the best possible fit between the stanchions and lowers.

Unlike many burnishing tools, the Andreani system uses a guided rod that references both bushings simultaneously, ensuring they remain perfectly aligned, square, and true throughout the process. The result is smoother travel, reduced stiction, improved small-bump sensitivity, and elimination of binding caused by misaligned or undersized bushings.

It’s one of those services most riders never see, but it’s often the difference between a fork that feels good and one that feels exceptional. .labs

I’m crazy backlogged even tho we’re not fully open yet, however when re-valving this customers DHX2 I wasn’t happy with how inconsistent the valve shim tool was. So I drilled and reamed it out to take a much higher quality Starrett digital indicator. This allows me to accurately measure metric ( , , etc) and archaic ( imperial - ) shims when tuning / re-halving customer shocks. Fast turnaround times are important, but it’s more important it’s done correctly. .labs

After months of moving equipment, building workstations, and assembling what I hope will become one of the most capable specialty ski and bike service facilities in the Pacific Northwest, Alpine Edge is now beginning to accept a limited number of service appointments.

Alpine Edge was never intended to be a traditional bike shop. The focus is on specialized services requiring advanced diagnostics, tooling, and technical expertise—particularly Shimano e-bike motor service, suspension service, tuning, and repair.

A huge amount of effort has gone into building a workshop around quality and precision. That means investing in industrial machinery, purpose-built tooling, professional-grade diagnostic equipment, custom workstations, and tools like that help create an efficient and professional workspace. Every investment has been made with one goal in mind: delivering the highest quality work possible.

Whether it’s diagnosing a difficult EP8 issue, rebuilding a drive unit, or performing a complete suspension overhaul on Fox, RockShox, or Öhlins products, the objective is the same—provide the kind of service that is becoming increasingly difficult to find.

Excited to announce we are bringing in and stocking for this coming winter. It’s awesome to see a ski binding fully, designed, tested, machined and assembled in the US. I will have a factory jig on hand for these as well. .labs

Been crazy busy, but plan is to start limited suspension and Shimano ebike motor service back up next week. Lynden Sheet Metal did a great job with the 14guage stainless bench tops! Working on installing them and mounting the vises / arbor press now. Got the mill dead level and trammed in (still need permits for power) and have been 3D printing s bunch of custom tool organizers. .labs

Hope to be open in a couple weeks soon as our workbenches are done! Just picked up a bunch of Italian suspension tools. Including the best bushing tools on the market. The burnishing tools are the only ones that use a guide rod to ensure the bushings are burnished square to the fork chassis. Also now have the entire range of tooling for Ohlins, Cane Creek, Fox and Rock shocks, Vorsprung and others. Even picked up a dedicated dial indicator for measuring shim stacks to more accurate do our custom tuning. While waiting on finishing our build out I’ve been 3D printing a bunch of custom tool organizers. .labs

Getting closer to opening our new location downtown Bellingham on State st next to Vital. For suspension work I brought in a new state of the art vacuum bleeder from LABA7 and the most accurate nitrogen charged system available from nothing like the quality of good European tools for precision work. Just waiting on the stainless steel work bench tops to get both of our shock dynos mounted. .labs

Still working on our build out but we are getting closer. Have a full wall of Lista / Vidmar / Equipto tooling / parts cabinets installed now. More to come. .labs

More cabinets installed. These are for our new dedicated suspension workbench. If you look closely you can see the new state of the art suspension bleeder. The main work table is a Snapon Transmission teardown table designed to catch all of the fluids and drain them to a specialized container so we can properly dispose of used oil. The vise is pretty special it’s a 5” Dawn - Australian off set vise. Wilton rebranded these for North America. The beauty of the vise is you don’t have to worry about suspension parts contacting the vise screw. These are rare, but ideal for suspension/ hydraulic work. I’ll be restoring the vise before installing it. Cabinets are all bolted together then secured to the floor with structural screws. Once the stainless tops are installed it will be bombproof. .labs

Got some of the heavy machinery installed today. Going to be down most likely till start of May at first while I get everything unpacked, get new workbench tops and finish the rest of the build out, etc. .labs
