Hadn’t been here in a couple years, just got back. This time was different energy because Stratton rode some monumental lines on the peaks you are viewing since then. // Stratton Matteson staring at your runs both hurt and comforted the heart. I could picture you attacking this zone with a smile; 99.9% of the population couldn’t even make it here in the Winter. Many will never know what it takes to not only hike into this area in the snow, let alone camp for 10 days, scale these lines and ride them the way you did. You are forever a legend…♥️

This was sent to me today from yesterday. You are watching in real time the final stages of glaciers disappearing in the Three Sisters Wilderness. Today I saw the final pieces of the Lewis glacier hanging on. Yesterday, the Hayden looked as if it too will be pretty much gone by this Fall. The rate in which they are melting this Summer is truly astonishing. Obviously the sh*tty Winter didn’t help, yet the speed of melt this year is, to reiterate, is mind blowing. // I used to snowboard many of these glaciers with 4-6” of new in early season when I was younger. // The person wanted to remain anonymous.
