Happy first day of Fall. // Fly fishing has consumed my life. Infinite positive, challenging and mind altering experiences…a total change in my perception, connection and understanding of the outdoors, the acuteness. I love knowing I haven’t even scratched the surface of what is possible with a fly rod and fly/streamer…it’s endless. // Here are a few highlights from this Summer. Grateful.😊

Yesterday. Elijah Pyle and I went up to see if we could use the new snow and find a crevasse gap for him to jump over; he’s been eager to hike in the snow this month. The hike was gorgeous, low winds, dissipating colorful clouds and fresh snow. We arrived at the glacier, found two gaps, yet neither of them were able to be setup right. On our way out, the recreational snowfield had old snow with fresh snow on top. We set this little hit up and Elijah enjoyed his first airs of the season…the simple things can sometimes be just as fruitful. // Side note: was able to naturally melt almost three nalgenes full of fresh snow into water with no more than the sunlight. For those who don’t know, this ‘trick’ will work well below outside freezing temps, just need sunlight, a dark/sun absorbing background, like a backpack or rock and a couple inches of existing water in the Nalgene. Helps if you leave the lid partially cracked…no jetboil required. 😊
