Well, that's it. I closed out a 10-plus year career in wedding photography this fall...I can, of course, be bribed to come out of retirement. Donuts, cake, and cold hard cash generally do the trick. But for my day-to-day, I'm loving a transition back to a regular job. Kinda crazy, right?
Meanwhile I went out with a bang. Becky and Mike tied the knot at The Oceanview of Nahant (that's Boston for all you Oregon people) and I got to party with my favorite vendor buddy of all time/official wedding husband George Simmons. Becky's family are old friends of mine and I was honored by the opportunity to photograph their wedding. They *really* wanted the photo out on the dance floor on the beach after dark and I think I nailed a good one.
I used to tell people I was a master at pinning boutonières. I estimated I pinned about 300 of them a year, based on the fact that I averaged 40-50 weddings a year for a huge chunk of my career. I've shot a lot of weddings and I've pinned a lot of flowers onto guys who all yell "ouch" and smile at me like its the first time I've heard it. Every time, it always was. ☺️
I'm grateful for my industry friends, I'm grateful for my clients, I'm proud of the work I made for them, and I'm proud to share what's probably (maybe) the last wedding I'll shoot. ❤️
