Well, that's it. I closed out a 10-plus year career in wedding photography this fall...I can, of course, be bribed to come out of retirement. Donuts, cake, and cold hard cash generally do the trick. But for my day-to-day, I'm loving a transition back to a regular job. Kinda crazy, right?

Meanwhile I went out with a bang. Becky and Mike tied the knot at The Oceanview of Nahant (that's Boston for all you Oregon people) and I got to party with my favorite vendor buddy of all time/official wedding husband George Simmons. Becky's family are old friends of mine and I was honored by the opportunity to photograph their wedding. They *really* wanted the photo out on the dance floor on the beach after dark and I think I nailed a good one.

I used to tell people I was a master at pinning boutonières. I estimated I pinned about 300 of them a year, based on the fact that I averaged 40-50 weddings a year for a huge chunk of my career. I've shot a lot of weddings and I've pinned a lot of flowers onto guys who all yell "ouch" and smile at me like its the first time I've heard it. Every time, it always was. ☺️

I'm grateful for my industry friends, I'm grateful for my clients, I'm proud of the work I made for them, and I'm proud to share what's probably (maybe) the last wedding I'll shoot. ❤️

Welp, the PNW certainly lived up to its rainy reputation yesterday. Luckily Mt. Hood Oregon Resort has some amazing covered spaces to utilize if you're crafty about it. AND the rain stopped long enough for Genevieve and Henry to have their outdoor ceremony overlooking the mountains (even though the mountains were doing a little hiding behind the clouds). All in all it was an absolutely fabulous day and the only one who got really wet was me! 😃

Cheers to these new vendor friends for their beautiful work and dedication to making the day perfect for the couple:

For 2022 (and going forward) I've significantly pared back the number of weddings I'm shooting every year. For close to 10 years, I shot upwards of 40-50 events a year between my own and helping out colleagues. Because of that I'm thrilled to say I have a sneak peek from my first wedding of 2022, back on the east coast in the beautiful Berkshires.

Rachel & Louis have been trying to have a wedding for about three years now. Like many couples, they threw in the towel on their original date because of Covid, and then again on the second date. Eventually they eloped, but they knew they still wanted a wonderful party with friends and family. Last weekend, they FINALLY got their magic day and after several reschedules, I was right there with them

Man, it has taken me so long to choose my favorites from this past weekend's wedding. There's so many amazing moments to choose from and narrowing it down was TOUGH. I have never seen anyone so excited to catch the bouquet! Plus I was traveling back to the west coast all day yesterday and today was my son's birthday. Its been an absolutely exhausting weekend.

But holy crap, check out this sneak peek. I don't normally insert myself into the ceremony, but when the bride asks, plus you get married at a French chateau, you pretty much have to have your first kiss with the building in the background. 😍

The vendor team from this wedding was amazing and its such a great feeling to pull together with your favs for an awesome couple. Events By Chrissie Sue is a planning phenom and she's a complete rock star on wedding day. George Simmons from G3 Entertainment and I go back quite a ways, we first worked together years ago and then I shot his wedding. We love to work together and we always seem to have some seriously wild parties by the end of the night. Jessica McHale came along for the ride and is a GREAT photographer and I love when she second shoots with me. We were all fortunate to be supported by the rest of the vendor team, who I didn't know personally before this weekend but all produced fantastic work to make the day happen.

Cheers to Dotty Goncalo and Keith Daubeney on an amazing wedding day, thank you for trusting me with your special day!

When you finally get to creep super close to the amazing house on the beach in Mantunuck...and also, when the client swears how awkward they are, and then they totally aren't ❤ Becky and Mike had an absolutely glorious evening for their engagement session...Warm air, warm water and a killer sky for sunset!

Doing a happy dance to be back in New England and doing what I love! Being on the west coast for the past 18 months has really given me a deeper appreciation of everything to love about the Northeast. Its so comforting to come back home to the architecture and all of the iconic plants and flowers that get taken for granted when you see them every day of your life...One thing I DON'T miss is the humidity...You guys can keep that.

Borsari Gallery Cape Cod is one of those venues that seeps New England from every pore of its being. Its a stunning old 1800's post and beam barn with cedar shingles and exposed wood on the interior. The hydrangeas and roses are always gorgeous and one of my favorite spots is tucked in by the ancient hedgerow of yews, because of the way they photograph. The afternoon light shines that direction and accents the lighter green tips of the shrubs, while the older, darker, interior branches fade away to the background. I know that's a lot of very specific love for a hedgerow, but its really is one of my favorite spots.

Amy and Xavier have been waiting to have their wedding at Borsari for a little more than two years now, and I've been along for the ride since the beginning. We planned and plotted and fell victim to COVID just like so many couples did. This past weekend was finally their day to stand in my favorite spot on the property (and even have a little twirl while they were there). With about 60 of their favorite people in tow, they shared a relaxed and intimate day (my favorite kind!) that turned into quite the dance party by the evening!

Cheers to the vendor team who made it possible for the couple. 2021 weddings have been filled with new kinds of challenges and I've been so lucky to work with fantastic professionals who do whatever it takes to make it happen for the couple:

Florist | Bourne Florist
Bride's Gown | ThistleRose Bridal

Eek!! Super excited to share the sneak peek from my first wedding in Central Oregon!!

Monique and Spencer chose this past Friday (yep, it was the 13th...cheeky, right?) to get married at one of their favorite places, Bend Golf Club. They're both heavily involved in the club's community and it was an easy decision to choose this place. And it turns out the date was incredibly special as well, make sure you check out the photos toward the end so you don't miss the most genuine, heartwarming moment of the day...when the entire wedding sang happy birthday to Monique's 97 year old grandmother

After 1081 days (yes, they counted, it really was that long!), Kaylee and Curt finally had the day of their dreams at beautiful Bourne Farm at Salt Pond Areas Bird Sanctuaries, Inc. in Falmouth, MA. It was a stunningly perfect New England day with warm air, a nice breeze and blue skies with wispy, light clouds. After 1081 days, there was no better reward. Kaylee and Curt's day was filled with stylish, boho details (including a handmade arch for the ceremony) and warm laughter. This was my first time at Bourne Farm and the variety available for photos is a dream...We made good use of the shady wooded area and ventured down to the pond for some water views. Congrats to Kaylee and Curt, happy honeymoon!

I did that thing again where I fly across the country to photograph someone's best day ❤ It makes for two loooong days of travel but its so very worth it.

Last year Ally + Will got married and pushed their party off until this year. Rhode Island has a great vaccination rate and the mask mandates disappeared just in time for their I-Do-Redo yesterday. Its so amazing to see a sea of smiling faces and I swear people are dancing harder than usual because they're so happy to have some normalcy back in their lives.

Congrats to Ally + Will (again!), I'm so happy we made everything work out so I could be there for you yesterday. Thanks to the staff at The Haversham for taking great care of the vendors and thanks to Jason Dawson from Dawson Entertainment for a great dance floor last night!

Facebook has been super wacky and I'm just now figuring out that the beautiful Connecticut wedding I shot about two weeks ago never got their sneak peek. Sooooo, without further ado, I give you Sam & Jarred ❤️

Like so many couples, they put their day off from last year and chose an intimate day at one of my fave venues, The Lace Factory. The whole gang got ready at a great beach cottage in Old Lyme and had first look on the beach. We all sort of missed the fact that we had some bystanders a bit down the beach until I heard them cheering behind us 🙃 Needless to say, those folks are forever immortalized in their sneak peek.

The staff at The Lace Factory are top notch and they made this intimate evening feel every bit as special as a big to-do. The food is always amazing, too. Sam & Jarred were able to share their day with some additional people by Zoom and I think the photos of everyone waving are so sweet.

Congratulations to Sam & Jarred, I flew all the way across the country to photograph your special day and I'm so very glad I could. Thank you!

Did I actually do that thing where I move across the country? Is it as amazing as we'd hoped? Will I find fantastic clients once I get there? The answer to all of that is YES.

Meet Genevieve and Henry. These two amazing, fun souls are getting married next year at Mt. Hood Oregon Resort and they invited me along to do that whole photo thing. Woooo!

Last night we went back to the site of their proposal, Smith Rock State Park, for their engagement session. It was cold and windy as heck, but these two rocked their session and made it look easy (and warm).

Genevieve is my four year old daughter Charlotte's teacher and Charlotte officially approves of these photos. Me too.
