The part of a wedding day that not a lot of photographers show is actually the longest part of the day and one of the hardest parts to photograph well: the reception.
Portraits are easy in the sense that I can choose the light, the location, the angle. Details? Even easier for that same reason. Dancing is a whole different animalā¦
Everything is moving FAST. The room is usually dark. The lighting is constantly changing. People are moving in every direction. You canāt ask anyone to do it again, move two feet to the left, or wait while you figure something out. Most of the time, you are kinda at the mercy of whatever conditions you are given.
But this is also the part of the day where some of my favorite photos happen:
Ties are off. Shoes are off. Hair is wild. Grandma is on the dance floor and nobody is thinking about my camera anymore :)
Twenty years from now, youāll want proof of how much damn fun you all had.
