It had been quite some time before I felt truly inspired as a “creative”, but oh my goodness, this maternity session brought back some life and feeling for me as a photographer. I was incredibly happy to photograph these two beautiful people and their lovely fur baby as they awaited the arrival of their long-sought after son. But don’t let me fool you… Prior to every single session I have (there are no exceptions even after 10 years), I get nervous and convince myself I’m going to bomb it. Every. Single. Session. But once we start shooting and I’m in my groove like I was here, I fall in love! The tones, textures, and love in this gallery makes my heart sing!
Prior to our session, I chatted on the phone (for way too long) with the mom-to-be and sorted out exactly what they were looking for. We decided on a in-home maternity session with a few shots outdoors. Ever since the Covid-years began, in-home sessions have become a much more popular option and it has been one of my favorite things that have continued years later.
My biggest take away from these sessions: R-E-L-A-X. Your home doesn’t need to be the perfect setting. It doesn’t need to be perfectly decorated or “picture ready”. What it does need is YOU and your loved ones, living life and being who you are, where you are. That is beautiful, and THAT is perfect.
I’ll share the arrival of this family’s little one soon enough! For now, I hope you enjoy some of my favorite shots of this maternity session!
