Confession: my original plan to capture this first-look with Erin’s father did NOT include the mirror! To be completely honest, I hadn’t noticed the mirror until I saw it within my camera frame. It is purely coincidence that I asked Erin to stand on that particular step for the reveal. Orchestrating a first-look indoors can be tricky because of the limited angles and tight spaces. In this instance, I had photographed Erin’s descent down the staircase and asked Erin to hold her position on the steps so I could reposition my frame to include her father’s face. The exact moment I gave the green light for the reveal was when I noticed Erin’s reflection framed PERFECTLY. I only had a fraction of a second to seize the opportunity and adjust my frame. And what a moment it turned out to be! ⁣

Twilight ✨ is the new golden hour ☀️

It’s approaching the time of year when it becomes difficult to align your wedding timeline with golden hour to get those romantic sunset pictures everybody desires! We typically set aside time during reception while the guests are eating to steal the newlyweds for sunset portraits. Now that the sun is setting earlier as we approach autumn, the “golden hour” will likely come and go as you’re having your first dance or listening to speeches. But there’s always other options besides missing out on your cocktail hour! This country club is lined with lush greenery and tall standing trees (which are stunning backdrops for your ceremony!), but we still found an open patch of twilight on the horizon to capture this photo! ⁣

I specifically remember when this moment happened because I could FEEL Jordan’s bliss. It reminds me of the feeling you get when watching a romantic-comedy and your favorite character is living out their happy ending. I couldn’t help but feel emotional when I saw the expressions on her face while being lifted by her friends and family!

One of the hardest decisions while editing is the classic question of color or black&white?! I always deliver both versions of an image that I convert to B&W. This allows our couples the chance to decide which version they enjoy more and provides variety for prints! ⁣
