5 minutes, the perfect light on the pews, and trust. They trusted me enough to sit in a dark church, with sun shining in their eyes with no other prompt than to “stay touching each other.”

It wasn’t a bullet point on the shot list, but it was taking a bit of a risk to get the shot. We had already gotten beautiful portraits of them, we were headed to the reception, and I asked if we could grab a few in the church with the couple of minutes we had left.

These turned out to be some of my favorite images in their gallery! Why? They are the focus. Their closeness, intimacy, and comfort with each other. That’s what your wedding day is all about.

She showed up looking like herself. Her bridals were full of HER. This bridal shoot was actually fun.

Why? She brought her best girls (her mom, grandma, and twin sister) to keep it fun and not too serious. They helped her stay in the moment, grab real smiles, and I got to be part of the sweetest girl group for an hour.

What bridals are thinking of? Mega editorial? Ease and natural? A little bit of both? What’s your favorite you’ve seen done? Let me know!

I love this part of a wedding day.

Just the two of you, away from everyone for a few minutes, getting to slow down and actually take it all in.
I’ll give you direction when you need it, but I’m not interested in turning your portraits into a production. I want you to be able to talk, laugh, hold each other, and just be together.

Because when you look back at these photos, I want you to remember more than what you looked like.
I want you to remember what it felt like to be married.

Ya know?

I remember I walked through the door and told my husband, “I planned her wedding, don’t get the job though.” He was obviously confused because hello this is my job I get paid to do.

I explained it all out and he said, “Well, at least you got to be a good friend to your vendor people and a good person to someone who needed help.”

And that was it. A 15 minute phone call that helped plan a wedding day.

Thoughts on this? Good choice to plan or just send down the road?

I have had three calls in a row with brides that told me they don’t want to feel like they’re jumping from photo to photo, but instead want to be where their people are. Girls morning to get ready, ceremony and holding hands with their husband the rest of the day. Can I be honest? It was so refreshing.

Watching weddings make a big shift back to presence, experience, the people who are there, and making sure the wedding vendor team sees that vision come to life.

These portraits took about 15 minutes before they had their engagement party with a few surprise guests, the cutest nieces and nephew who love their Aunt big time!

So with me I won’t ask you to laugh on command.
I won’t tell you to stare at the camera all day.
Instead, I’ll guide you when you need it and step back when you don’t.
The result isn’t perfect posing.
It’s photographs that feel like your memories.

The first bride I’ve ever had in a black wedding dress. For Abby, it made complete sense. A thought she had when she was young girl that we decided was “an ode to her girlhood” with a dress that was a little bit different, kind of like her.
John and her were a quiet couple, happy to stay close to each other, always looking for a hand to hold, and you would never have known they were so nervous to be in front of a camera.
The average temperature in Arkansas this week is 95 degrees, so naturally I thought about this fall day last year. A sweet day, with a unique couple with pictures I still love.

A whole year.
These two said “yes” to a random stranger that had a camera (it was me coming from a different shoot) while they were on a date night. That was in the summer of 2024!
Flash forward a couple of months and I get an inquiry from Will that he’s going to propose! Honored and excited doesn’t begin to cover how I felt. Their families both invited me into the engagement party, packed cookies up for me to bring home to my kids, and I thought about how generous they were.
A month later Faith texts me to see if I’m available on August 8th before they book their venue. An actual dream question btw
Then we were taking bridals. Faith was an actual vision and I got to see NWA Makeup & Hair Team | Rose Glow Artistry work for the first time.
Then wedding came and their vendor team was incredible. Their families were inviting us all in, the vendors checked on one another with a tighter timeline, and their wedding was something I know we’re all still thinking about. Katherine Miller was a HUGE part of this.
Getting to catch up in the spring for some extended family photos was just a treat. Hearing about their first year of marriage, thinking back to their wedding day, and their future plans.
So here’s a little walk down memory lane from these two. Cheers to many more!
