Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!!!!!!

Okay, Peoples, I know there is a lot going on this weekend with the Jail Bird Festival (otherwise known as the RNC) and some baseballs being smacked around here and there, but I am offering you an alternative.

How about heading over to our little ART shindig on Sunday, the 4th? We will be having some music of our own. Steve Armstrong and John Lackey will be pickin and grinnin around 2 PM, and it will be a fun time in our air-conditioned space.
On top of all that coolness going on, the LuigART Studio artists will have works out for public consumption as well - A feast for the eyes.
So, without spelling it out for you...the cool place to be this Sunday from 1 to 4 is 110 Luigart Court, Suite 250.

Lex Center for Creative Reuse will also be open downstairs for those of you needing to pick up some arts or crafts supplies.

Artists Participating are:
Steve Armstrong
Michelle Newby-Armstrong
Amanda Bridges
Jack Girard
Melissa Hall
Diane Kahlo
John Lackey
Marco Logsdon
Mary Rezny
Christine Stroebel
Tresa Harrold Thompson
Michael Wayne
Laverne Zabielski

I’m slowly dipping my toes into abstract painting. But I’m still using the textures I photograph and now the paintings to combine into digital creations. Honestly I don’t know that I’m going anywhere with these digital abstractions but they are a hoot to create. This is the combination of a collaborative painting done with Amanda Bridges, a photo of some pencil mark making exercises, a photo of the side of an old wooden planter, an abstract painting I did a couple of weeks ago, and finally a photo of an old concrete wall.

I have a friend who says I’m the most balanced left/right brained person she knows. The left brain sure kicked in last week! I have a show coming up in collaboration with poet Missy Brownson Ross at The Lexington Art League on April 30th. The location is a fabulous gothic revival house which has caused me to approach this show a little differently. I’m used to galleries with long walls. This house has all these nooks, crannies, and even a turret! I brought the diagram into Photoshop to help me figure out the number and sizes of pieces I will need.

Here's fair warning to anyone who wants to play in a photo shoot with me... you never know what's going to happen! 😜

I feel like I earned some street cred tonight. Wax was flung all over the place as I got into painting. I had to clean off my glasses and my phone before I could come home 🥴

I’m continuing down a new path and starting to get into a groove. Growth is painful but necessary. Here’s a peek from tonight.

Gentle readers, I am wondering what you did this weekend. I spent Friday night doing battle with a very ugly, very stubborn old chair. Of course I was supposed to be cleaning my studio in anticipation of the forthcoming Open Studio weekend coming up October 19th and 20th (yes that is a plug - informative post to follow), but I just couldn’t bring myself to do it.

Why deconstruct a perfectly good, if ugly chair? I’m glad you asked! I’m in the throws of some assemblage projects and there are some tasty bits and pieces on this chair that are way better than it’s intended form.

Updates to follow! I’m going home now to take some allergy pills. This freaking chair fought back in any way it could imagine.

So what were your evening activities?
